CNB arrests 82 suspected drug offenders in island-wide operation; drugs worth over $46,700 seized

A total of 82 suspected drug offenders were arrested in a five-day islandwide anti-drug operation conducted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) from Sept 14 to 18.

Controlled drugs seized during the operation included about 1,151g of cannabis, 146g of Ice, 45g of heroin, 9g of ketamine, four Ecstasy tablets and two lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) stamps.

The drugs seized are estimated to be worth more than $46,700, CNB said in a press release on Sept 18.

The heroin, Ice and cannabis seized could potentially feed the addiction of 270 abusers for a week, according to the bureau.

Areas covered during the operation included Ang Mo Kio, Macpherson, Geylang and Lavender.

Three foreign nationals arrested in Geylang

On the evening of Sept 15, CNB officers arrested a 40-year-old male foreign national near Lorong 12 Geylang for suspected drug trafficking offences.

Follow-up investigations led officers to a hotel along Sims Avenue, where a 43-year-old male foreign national and a 34-year-old female foreign national were arrested for suspected drug offences.

Officers escorted the 43-year-old man to his hotel room, where they recovered about 185g of cannabis, a small amount of Ice and Ecstasy, as well as several drug paraphernalia.

Around the same time, officers arrested the 34-year-old woman in another room on the same floor.

A search of her room uncovered about 15g of Ice and drug paraphernalia.

13 men arrested at Geylang residential building

In another operation on the evening of Sept 16, CNB officers arrested 13 men for suspected drug offences at a private residential building along Lorong 22 Geylang.

Eleven of the men, comprising three Singaporeans and eight foreign nationals aged between 20 and 53, were arrested from eight rooms in the building.

Another two men, both foreign nationals aged 26 and 31, were arrested on the ground floor.

About 12g of Ice and drug paraphernalia were seized from the premises.

Preliminary investigations revealed that all 13 men were suspected to have consumed controlled drugs.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Lim Sze Yuk, Deputy Director of CNB's Enforcement Division, said the bureau would continue to pursue those who abuse or traffic drugs.

"CNB will actively pursue those who abuse or traffic drugs, and offenders will be dealt with firmly under the law," he said.

He also warned business owners and operators against knowingly allowing or facilitating drug activities on their premises.

"Keeping Singapore safe and drug-free is a shared responsibility, and we encourage everyone to play their part by staying alert and reporting suspicious activities to the relevant authorities," he added.

Investigations into the drug activities of all those arrested are ongoing.

三名外籍人士在芽笼被捕

9月15日晚，中央肃毒局人员在芽笼12巷附近逮捕了一名40岁的外国男子，该男子涉嫌贩毒。

后续调查将警员引至西姆斯大道的一家酒店，在那里，一名 43 岁的外国男性和一名 34 岁的外国女性因涉嫌毒品犯罪被捕。

警员将这名 43 岁的男子带回他的酒店房间，在那里他们查获了约 185 克大麻、少量冰毒和摇头丸，以及一些吸毒用具。

大约在同一时间，警方在同一楼层的另一个房间里逮捕了这名 34 岁的女子。

搜查她的房间时，发现了约15克冰毒和吸毒用具。

芽笼住宅楼逮捕13名男子

9 月 16 日晚，中央肃毒局官员在芽笼 22 巷的一栋私人住宅楼内，以涉嫌毒品犯罪逮捕了 13 名男子。

警方从该建筑物的八个房间内逮捕了 11 名男子，其中包括 3 名新加坡人和 8 名年龄在 20 岁至 53 岁之间的外国公民。

另有两名男子，均为外籍人士，年龄分别为 26 岁和 31 岁，在一楼被捕。

警方从现场缴获了约12克冰毒和吸毒用具。

初步调查显示，这13名男子均涉嫌服用管制药物。

中央肃毒局执法部门副主任、副助理局长林思玉表示，该局将继续追究滥用或贩运毒品者的责任。

“中央肃毒局将积极追查滥用或贩运毒品者，并将依法严惩违法者，”他说。

他还警告企业主和经营者，不得明知故犯地允许或协助在其场所内进行毒品活动。

“维护新加坡的安全和无毒环境是每个人的共同责任，我们鼓励每个人都尽自己的一份力，保持警惕，并将可疑活动报告给有关当局，”他补充道。

对所有被捕人员的毒品活动调查仍在进行中。
