Cyclist, 16, arrested after accident with 74-year-old pedestrian who later died

The police said they received a call for assistance at Block 741 Yishun Avenue 5 at 11.45am on Sept 15.

SINGAPORE – A 16-year-old cyclist has been arrested for a rash act causing death following an accident involving a 74-year-old man.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) took the man, who was a pedestrian, to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital where he later died, said the police.

The male teenager was arrested for the offence of rash act causing death and investigations are ongoing, added the police.

A man who said he is the 74-year-old’s son, made an appeal for eyewitnesses on Facebook on Sept 16.

Tan Bo Xue identified the elderly man as his father, Tan Liang Kwong. He later said that his father had died on Sept 17. He said the accident took place near a Jollibee outlet in a Caltex petrol station located near the junction of Yishun Avenue 5 and Yishun Street 11.

Block 741 Yishun Avenue 5, where the police were called, is opposite the petrol station.

Tan also thanked a passerby, whom he says called the ambulance for his father, and asked the passerby to contact him.

陈博雪确认死者是他的父亲陈良光。他后来表示，父亲已于9月17日去世。他说，事故发生在义顺5道和义顺11街交界处附近的一家加德士加油站，就在一家快乐蜂餐厅附近。

警方接到报警后前往的义顺5道第741座组屋，就在加油站对面。

谭先生还感谢了一位路人，他说这位路人帮他父亲叫了救护车，并请这位路人与他联系。
