MEF: RM1,000 Perkeso mobility allowance to improve job matching for workers relocating over 100km

The RM1,000 Mobility Assistance Allowance aims to improve job matching for workers relocating over 100 kilometres for employment.

The allowance will be available from October 1 following amendments to the Employment Insurance System Act 2017.

Enhancements to the EIS include increased Early Re-employment and Training Allowances to support workers' transition back into employment.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 — The one-off RM1,000 Mobility Assistance Allowance for eligible Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) contributors is expected to improve the matching of workers with job opportunities, particularly where vacancies are located beyond their immediate areas.

Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) Senior Adviser for Government, Media and International Engagement Datuk Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman said the initiative recognised that relocation and extended travel could involve significant upfront costs for workers to take jobs farther from home.

“From employers’ perspective, improving geographical mobility will contribute to a more efficient labour market by enabling vacancies to be matched with suitable workers beyond the immediate local area.

“This is particularly relevant in sectors and regions where employers continue to face difficulties in sourcing workers with the required skills and experience,” he said in a statement today.

However, Syed Hussain said MEF encouraged Perkeso to clearly communicate the eligibility criteria, application procedures and payment timelines to workers and employers.

Yesterday, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan announced that the government would provide a one-off RM1,000 Mobility Assistance Allowance to Perkeso contributors who secure new jobs located more than 100 kilometres from their homes.

He said the allowance would take effect on Oct 1 through amendments to the Employment Insurance System (EIS) Act 2017.

On the broader enhancements to the EIS, Syed Hussain said the increase in the Early Re-employment Allowance from 25 per cent to 50 per cent of the remaining unpaid Job Search Allowance would provide additional support for eligible workers who return to employment early.

He said the increase in the daily Training Allowance from RM10 to RM30, together with the increase in the maximum training fee covered from RM4,000 to RM7,000, would further strengthen the EIS in helping unemployed workers reskill and transition into new employment.

Syed Hussain said employers could also benefit from employment services and worker-support programmes that help reduce the time taken to fill vacancies and improve the matching of suitable candidates with available jobs. — Bernama

然而，Syed Hussain 表示，MEF 鼓励 Perkeso 向工人和雇主明确传达资格标准、申请程序和付款时间表。

昨天，人力资源部长拿督斯里拉马南宣布，政府将向在距离家超过100公里处找到新工作的马来西亚社会保险机构（Perkeso）缴款人一次性提供1000令吉的出行援助津贴。

他表示，这项津贴将通过对 2017 年《就业保险制度法》的修订，于 10 月 1 日生效。

关于对就业保险计划 (EIS) 的更广泛改进，赛义德·侯赛因表示，将提前再就业津贴从剩余未支付求职津贴的 25% 提高到 50%，将为提前重返工作岗位的符合条件的工人提供额外支持。

他表示，每日培训津贴从 10 令吉增加到 30 令吉，以及最高培训费用报销额从 4,000 令吉增加到 7,000 令吉，将进一步加强就业保险计划，帮助失业工人重新学习技能并过渡到新的工作岗位。

赛义德·侯赛因表示，雇主也可以从就业服务和员工支持计划中受益，这些计划有助于缩短填补职位空缺所需的时间，并提高合适候选人与空缺职位的匹配度。——马新社
