15 hawker centres to close for cleaning fourth week of September

A total of 15 hawker centres across Singapore will close for one to three days from Sept 21 to Sept 27 for cleaning.

According to the National Environmental Agency, such cleaning is conducted regularly so that Singaporeans can enjoy affordable food in a clean and hygienic environment.

The hawker centres undergoing cleaning include Tekka Centre, Holland Village Market and Food Centre, and Jurong West Hawker Centre, among others.

In addition, two hawker centres — Kim Keat Palm Market and Food Centre at Toa Payoh Lorong 7 and Blk 726 Clementi West Street 2 — are currently undergoing repairs and redecoration works.

The works are slated to be completed on Dec 13 and Dec 27 respectively.

There are a total of 123 markets and hawker centres across Singapore.

据国家环境局称，定期进行此类清洁工作是为了让新加坡人能够在干净卫生的环境中享用价格实惠的食物。

正在进行清洁的小贩中心包括竹脚中心、荷兰村巴刹与熟食中心和裕廊西小贩中心等。

此外，位于大巴窑7巷的金吉棕榈市场和熟食中心以及金文泰西街2座726座的两家小贩中心目前正在进行维修和重新装修工程。

工程预计分别于12月13日和12月27日完工。
