Despite continued and routine enforcement actions taken by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Traffic Police (TP) against errant cyclists, a group of teens does not seem to have taken heed.
A video posted by Facebook user Lik Wee shows a group of four teen cyclists riding across Somerset Road, next to Orchard Gateway, without helmets.
"Why are kids riding like this?" the user asks in his video.
The incident allegedly took place on Sunday (Sept 20) evening.
There is a fifth cyclist seen in the video wearing a different coloured shirt, but it is unclear if he is part of the group, or merely passing by.
Based on the video, they appear to be riding fixed-gear bicycles, commonly referred to as fixies. It is unclear if the bicycles had brakes.
Fixed-gear bicycles without at least one functioning handbrake are not allowed on roads and footpaths.
Another offence possibly committed by the group would be using a bicycle on a road during the night without displaying the required white light at the front and/or red light or red reflector at the rear.
Netizens who left comments on the post before they were disabled were mostly against such behaviour on the roads.
They also urged authorities to step up enforcement before fatalities and injuries rise.
On Sept 9, TP and LTA conducted a joint enforcement operation targeting errant teenage cyclists in Bukit Panjang .
Police said they received feedback from members of the public about teen cyclists causing a nuisance in the area at night.
A total of seven teenagers are now being investigated for allegedly riding bicycles without working handbrakes on public paths.

警方表示，他们收到公众反馈，称青少年骑自行车者在夜间在该地区造成滋扰。
目前共有七名青少年因涉嫌在公共道路上骑没有正常使用手刹的自行车而正在接受调查。
