RSAF activates Rescue 10 search-and-rescue helicopter to airlift unwell person from ship to SGH

The Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF)'s search-and-rescue unit Rescue 10 was activated on Friday (Sept 4) to help evacuate a person from a ship at sea to Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

In a Facebook post after the medical evacuation was completed, RSAF said the H225M helicopter helped transfer the patient, who required urged medical attention, in a stable condition.

"We wish the patient a smooth and speedy recovery, and salute our Rescue 10 crew and SGH personnel for always being ready to respond when called upon," according to the post.

Photographs posted by RSAF show the helicopter landing at SGH's new helipad along College Road, in vicinity of its new emergency department .

Personnel from the RSAF's 1 Medical Squadron and air crew specialists are also seen transferring the patient from a stretcher to a gurney handled by hospital staff.

The RSAF maintains a 24/7 unit, callsign Rescue 10, to respond to life-saving missions at short notice.

They are often scrambled to evacuate personnel who require immediate medical attention to hospitals, including from civilian vessels in the vicinity of Singapore.

The aircraft used, a H225M medium lift helicopter , achieved full operational capability in April 2024.

According to the Ministry of Defence, it has a range in excess of 400nm (740km).

新加坡空军发布的照片​​显示，直升机降落在新加坡中央医院位于学院路的新直升机停机坪上，靠近其新的急诊部。

视频中还可以看到新加坡空军第1医疗中队的医务人员和机组专家将病人从担架转移到由医院工作人员搬运的推车上。

新加坡空军设有一支 24 小时全天候待命的救援队，呼号为“救援 10”，随时准备在短时间内执行拯救生命的任务。

他们经常紧急调动救援力量，将需要立即就医的人员（包括新加坡附近民用船只上的人员）疏散到医院。

使用的飞机是 H225M 中型运输直升机，于 2024 年 4 月达到全面作战能力。

据国防部称，其射程超过 400 海里（740 公里）。
