Kuah Boon Wee was elected president of the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) for 2026-2028, succeeding Tan Hee Teck and bringing extensive experience from tripartite industrial relations discussions.

The new SNEF council includes senior leaders from diverse industries, with three new members joining to enhance engagement and reflect employers’ perspectives on workforce challenges.

SNEF aims to collaborate with employers, government, and labour to create balanced solutions for business competitiveness and workforce resilience, supporting over 4,000 member companies and 900,000 workers.

SINGAPORE – Kuah Boon Wee, a director of MTQ Corporation, has been elected president of the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) for its 2026-2028 term.

He succeeds Tan Hee Teck, who had served as president since July 2024.

Kuah was elected by SNEF’s newly formed 19-member council following the federation’s 46th annual general meeting, SNEF said on Sep 22.

He has served on the SNEF council since 2015 and became vice-president in 2024 . During his time on the council, Kuah has represented employers in tripartite discussions on industrial relations and manpower issues, including the latest review of the Employment Act.

“Having served on the SNEF Council since 2015, I have had the opportunity to engage employers and HR professionals across different industries and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges they face,” Kuah said.

He added that businesses are navigating economic uncertainty, rapid technological change, demographic shifts and evolving workforce expectations, making it increasingly important for employers’ perspectives to be reflected in national manpower and workforce discussions.

The new council includes senior business leaders from industries such as banking, manufacturing, professional services, logistics, hospitality, engineering, energy and technology.

Three new members have joined: HRnetGroup executive director and chief corporate officer Adeline Sim, Mandai Wildlife Group group chief executive Bennett Neo, and Tai Sin Electric executive director and CEO Bernard Lim.

Other council members include DBS Singapore group executive and country head Lim Him Chuan, Sats president and CEO Kerry Mok, and PwC Singapore executive chairman Marcus Lam, who serves as one of SNEF’s vice-presidents.

Kuah said SNEF would continue working with employers, the government and the labour movement to develop “balanced and practical solutions” that strengthen business competitiveness and workforce resilience.

SNEF has more than 4,000 member companies employing around 900,000 workers across 16 industry sectors.

The federation in 2025 also set up an Advisory, Resource and Consultancy Centre as part of efforts to deepen engagement with members and ensure their feedback is considered in policy formulation.

Tan, meanwhile, leaves the council after 17 years.

He joined in 2009, became honorary treasurer in 2014 and vice-president in 2022 before taking over as president in July 2024.

During his tenure, Tan represented SNEF on bodies including the National Wages Council, Tripartite Jobs Council, Singapore Economic Resilience Taskforce and Central Provident Fund Board.

Under his leadership, SNEF also completed a review of its constitution aimed at strengthening corporate governance and operational flexibility. THE BUSINESS TIMES

新理事会成员包括来自银行、制造业、专业服务业、物流业、酒店业、工程业、能源业和技术业等行业的资深商业领袖。

三位新成员加入：HRnetGroup 执行董事兼首席企业官 Adeline Sim、Mandai Wildlife Group 集团首席执行官 Bennett Neo 和 Tai Sin Electric 执行董事兼首席执行官 Bernard Lim。

其他理事会成员包括星展银行新加坡集团执行总裁兼国家主管林谦泉、新翔集团总裁兼首席执行官莫嘉丽，以及普华永道新加坡执行主席林志强（同时也是新加坡国家经济论坛的副总裁之一）。

Kuah表示，SNEF将继续与雇主、政府和劳工运动合作，制定“平衡且切实可行的解决方案”，以增强企业的竞争力和劳动力的韧性。

SNEF 拥有 4000 多家成员公司，在 16 个行业领域雇佣了约 90 万名员工。

该联合会于 2025 年设立了咨询、资源和顾问中心，旨在加深与成员的联系，并确保他们的反馈意见在政策制定中得到考虑。

与此同时，谭在任职17年后离开了市议会。

他于 2009 年加入，2014 年成为名誉司库，2022 年成为副主席，并于 2024 年 7 月接任主席一职。

在任期间，陈先生代表新加坡全国雇主联合会 (SNEF) 出席了包括全国工资理事会、三方就业理事会、新加坡经济韧性工作组和中央公积金局在内的多个机构。
