The Criminal Court on September 22 sentenced 39-year-old Sararat “Am Cyanide” Rangsiwuthaporn to death for the August 2022 premeditated murder of Chantharat “Jum” Wongkraisin, marking her fifth trial conviction linked to cyanide poisonings. Prosecutors proved that Sararat poisoned Chantharat to avoid repaying nearly 100,000 Baht in loans, having purchased cyanide days before meeting the victim under the guise of offering repayment and long-COVID medication.

This verdict represents the eighth outcome among 15 total cases filed against Sararat, bringing her cumulative court rulings to three death sentences, two life sentences, and three acquittals due to insufficient evidence. Seven cases—comprising six murder charges and one attempted murder charge—remain pending, with all lower court rulings still subject to appeal.
