A witness confronted the men and reported the incident to the authorities, providing photos and videos.
The dog reportedly suffered serious injuries, and there are calls for a thorough investigation and appropriate action against the perpetrators if animal cruelty is confirmed.
GEORGE TOWN, Sept 24 — The Penang Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) is investigating an incident involving two men who allegedly dragged a dog using a motorcycle in the Batu Lancang area here yesterday.
Penang DVS director Dr Saira Banu Mohamed Rejab, when contacted, confirmed that it had received a report regarding the incident.
“The Penang DVS is carrying out further investigations into the incident,” she said.
Meanwhile, animal rescuer David Yim said a woman who witnessed the incident had confronted the two men and asked them to stop, but they allegedly continued dragging the dog before leaving the scene.
He said the woman later lodged a report with the DVS, and also handed over photographs and videos believed to have captured the incident to the authorities.
“The black dog is believed to have suffered serious injuries and was left at the scene,” he said.
He hopes that the authorities will conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action if there were elements of animal cruelty involved. — Bernama
