50 evacuated after fire breaks out in Pasir Ris HDB flat; no injuries reported

SINGAPORE – About 50 people were evacuated after a fire broke out in a HDB flat in Pasir Ris on Sept 24.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at Block 426 Pasir Ris Drive 6 at around 6.15pm.

Black smoke was emitting from a unit on the 12th floor when SCDF arrived, it said, adding that firefighters had to conduct forcible entry into the unit.

“The fire, which involved items in the bedrooms and the living room, was extinguished using two water jets. There was no one in the unit at the time of the fire,” SCDF added.

About 50 people from the affected block were evacuated by the police and SCDF as a precaution.

A 45-year-old resident of a neighbouring block , who wanted to be known only as Nasha, told The Straits Times that she panicked when she heard sirens in the area at about 6pm.

“I went down to check and saw many people at the sheltered place in between my block and Block 426,” she said, adding there was thick smoke coming out from the kitchen and window of the unit on the top floor of the block.

“Firemen were already trying to put out fire and I heard people saying that the owner was at work,” she said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

SCDF, which urged members of the public to be vigilant, said the top three causes of fires in residential premises are unattended cooking, electrical fires and unattended lighted materials.

According to its latest annual statistics report released on Feb 11 , the total number of fires increased by 3 per cent from 1,990 in 2024 to 2,050 in 2025.

Of these, 1,051 involved fires at residential buildings.

新加坡——9月24日，巴西立一处组屋发生火灾，约50人被疏散。

新加坡民防部队（SCDF）表示，他们于下午 6 点 15 分左右接到报警，称巴西立 6 道第 426 座组屋发生火灾。

声明称，新加坡民防部队到达现场时，12楼的一个单元冒出黑烟，消防员不得不强行进入该单元。

新加坡民防部队补充说：“火灾涉及卧室和客厅的物品，消防人员使用两支水枪扑灭了火灾。火灾发生时，屋内无人。”

出于安全考虑，警方和新加坡民防部队疏散了受影响街区的约 50 名居民。

一位住在附近楼栋的45岁居民，只愿透露自己名叫娜莎，告诉《海峡时报》，大约下午6点，她听到该地区传来警笛声，感到非常恐慌。

“我下去查看，发现我住的楼和 426 座楼之间的避难所里有很多人，”她说，并补充说，楼顶单元的厨房和窗户冒出浓烟。

“消防员当时已经在灭火了，我听到有人说老板当时在上班，”她说。

火灾原因正在调查中。

新加坡民防部队敦促公众保持警惕，并表示住宅火灾的三大主要原因是无人看管的烹饪、电气火灾和无人看管的点燃物品。

根据其于 2 月 11 日发布的最新年度统计报告，火灾总数从 2024 年的 1990 起增加到 2025 年的 2050 起，增幅为 3%。

其中，1051起涉及住宅楼火灾。
