Area in MacRitchie Reservoir Park cordoned off after large hole appears in ground; PUB investigating

SINGAPORE – An area o n a walking trail next to the Singapore Island Country Club has been cordoned off after a huge hole in the ground was seen on Sept 23.

In a media reply on Sept 24, national water agency PUB said it is aware of the “ground depression” measuring 0.6m wide and 0.5m deep in MacRitchie Reservoir Park , and that it is investigating the cause.

PUB said the depression has been filled, and that the cordon will remain in place to ensure public safety while it monitors the stability of the ground and its surrounding areas over the next few days.

In a post shared on Facebook group Singapore Wildlife Sightings, which has since garnered nearly 400 likes and more than 40 comments , the hole is seen photographed next to a body of water.

One user asked in the comments if anyone was injured, while another wondered if the hole was caused by recent downpour in the area.

A third user speculated that such holes occur naturally, and can sometimes be spotted at MacRitchie Reservoir Park, though such instances are rare.

PUB did not share if there were any injuries due to the hole.

新加坡——9月23日，新加坡岛乡村俱乐部旁的一条步行道上出现了一个巨大的坑洞，随后该区域被封锁。

9月24日，国家水务局（PUB）在回复媒体时表示，他们已经注意到麦里芝蓄水池公园内出现宽0.6米、深0.5米的“地面凹陷”，目前正在调查其原因。

公用事业局表示，洼地已被填平，警戒线将继续保留，以确保公众安全，同时将在未来几天内监测地面及其周边地区的稳定性。

在 Facebook 群组“新加坡野生动物观察”上分享的一篇帖子中，可以看到一个水体旁边的洞穴照片，该帖子已经获得了近 400 个赞和 40 多条评论。

一位用户在评论中询问是否有人受伤，另一位用户则想知道这个洞是否是该地区近期暴雨造成的。

第三位用户推测，这种洞穴是自然形成的，有时可以在麦里芝蓄水池公园看到，尽管这种情况很少见。

公用事业部门没有透露该坑洞是否造成人员受伤。
