CNN was allowed back into the White House on Thursday, September 24, after a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to temporarily reinstate press badges for the network, along with MS NOW and Politico.

President Donald Trump announced on Friday, September 18, that he was banning the news outlets from accessing the White House. CNN reporter Betsy Klein was denied access on Saturday morning and her press pass was seized.

The three news outlets filed a lawsuit which alleged Trump’s ban violated the First Amendment and the Constitution’s due process protections.

CNN was removed Monday from pooled coverage responsibilities that are shared by major news outlets. The other major television networks refused to replace the banned outlets in the White House pool crew.

In the early morning hours Thursday, Federal Judge Timothy Kelly ordered the Trump administration to temporarily reinstate CNN, MS NOW and Politico’s access to the White House.

In his ruling, Kelly found the revocation of reporters’ press badges was done without “constitutionally adequate due process.”
