'Please do the right thing': Yishun durian stall releases CCTV footage, appeals for return of staff member's phone

A durian stall in Yishun has appealed to a man who allegedly took a staff member's mobile phone to return it, after the act was captured on CCTV.

Sharing a video of the incident on its Facebook page on Sunday (Sept 20), the stall, Durian Lah, said it was giving the man a chance to return the phone, warning that it would otherwise lodge a police report.

"You stole our staff's mobile phone in broad daylight. We are giving you the opportunity to return it immediately," it wrote.

"If it is not returned, we will make a police report and provide the relevant CCTV footage and evidence to the authorities. Please do the right thing and return the phone."

According to the timestamp on the video, the incident is believed to have occurred at around 6.13pm. The incident took place at the stall's Yishun outlet, reported Stomp.

In the footage, a man wearing a white shirt with one hand bandaged can be seen smoking a cigarette while standing near the entrance of the stall.

He appears to notice the CCTV camera and paces around the area before allegedly pocketing a mobile phone left on a table and walking away.

A police report was subsequently filed on Sept 22, according to reports.

Responding to queries from AsiaOne, the police confirmed that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.

视频中可以看到，一名身穿白衬衫、一只手缠着绷带的男子站在摊位入口附近抽烟。

他似乎注意到了监控摄像头，在附近踱步，然后据称将留在桌子上的手机揣进口袋，走开了。

据报道，警方随后于9月22日立案。

针对AsiaOne的询问，警方证实已接到报案，调查正在进行中。
