Two Perak tahfiz students, 13 and 14, charged over alleged iron attack on classmate

In Perak Tengah, Malaysia, two boys aged 13 and 14 have been charged with injuring a fellow 13-year-old student by allegedly pressing an iron against his chest, resulting in second-degree burns.

The incident occurred at a tahfiz school, and both accused pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court in Parit.

They face charges under Sections 324 and 34 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.

Bail was set at RM500 each, and the next court mention is scheduled for October 27.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Two boys aged 13 and 14 have been charged with injuring a 13-year-old fellow student by allegedly pressing an iron against his chest at a tahfiz school in Perak Tengah.

According to Utusan Malaysia , both students pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to them before Magistrate Nurul Izalina Rajaai at the Magistrate’s Court in Parit today.

The pair were jointly accused of intentionally causing injury to the boy using an iron at a tahfiz school in Chopin Kanan, Parit, in the Perak Tengah district at about 4pm on September 19.

The victim was later treated at a private clinic for second-degree burns to his chest, according to the report.

Utusan Malaysia reported that the two students were arrested after a doctor at the clinic lodged a police report on Monday after treating the boy.

According to the victim’s account, two fellow students had allegedly pressed an iron against his chest, causing the injuries.

The two accused were charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34, which covers voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

If convicted, the offence carries a maximum jail term of 10 years, a fine or whipping, or any two of those punishments.

Deputy public prosecutor R. Jayasri appeared for the prosecution, while both students were represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Nur Nadrah Badarudin.

The court granted bail of RM500 each and fixed October 27 for the next mention of the case.
