TAIWAN PAVILION: A public-private delegation is attending the Texas expo to help Taiwanese agricultural tech and premium produce enter the North American market

The Ministry of Agriculture is for the first time leading a delegation of agricultural and fishery operators to participate in the Taiwan Expo USA, with the goal of building North American supply chain partnerships.

The delegation has set up a Taiwan Agricultural Products Pavilion at the exhibition at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas in Texas, which runs from Thursday through today, the ministry said yesterday.

Taiwan is presenting its smart agricultural technology, cold-chain logistics and premium agricultural foods to inform local sales channels, import distributors and food and beverage industry about Taiwan’s advanced produce preservation and quality control, the ministry said.

The pavilion showcases Taiwanese produce ranging from smart seafood products and frozen fruit and vegetables to ready-to-eat foods, tea beverages and snack foods, it said.

Taiwan’s participation in the expo was previously restricted to product sample displays, but this year Taiwanese industry representatives are attending in person for the first time, the ministry said.

The goal is to help Taiwanese produce enter North American premium food markets to counter the impact of US tariffs and global supply chain restructuring, it said.

The ministry would continue to assist the domestic agricultural and fishery industries in building long-term, stable supply chain partnerships with the North American market, it said.

Separately, Taiwanese premium agricultural products are also available at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport from this month, the Agriculture and Food Agency said yesterday.

A specialty food section has been set up at the Hsin Tung Yang store （新東陽） in Terminal 1 and the Tasa Meng duty free shop （采盟） in Terminal 2, it said.

Rice snacks made of local produce such as pineapple cakes, black soybean crunch and rice egg rolls, as well as tea drinks like organic hibiscus tea and barley tea, are available, the agency said.

Travelers could also purchase candied kumquat gift boxes cobranded with the National Palace Museum, it said.

Promotional discounts are available during the opening period running from today through Friday next week, as well as the Double Ten National Day holiday next month and the Double Eleven shopping spree festival in November, the agency said.

Customers can enjoy a 30 percent discount for purchases of any three items, it said..
