An electric vehicle caught fire at a multi-storey car park in Marine Terrace on Thursday (Sept 24).
Responding to queries from AsiaOne, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a fire at Block 16A Marine Terrace at about 11.55am.
SCDF added that the fire involved the front compartment of an electric vehicle (EV) parked in a lot on the third floor.
The fire was extinguished by SCDF using a water jet, and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A video of the blaze shared by a Lianhe Zaobao reader shows flames engulfing the vehicle as SCDF vehicles arrived at the scene.
Another video shows the charred vehicle after the fire was extinguished.
When Lianhe Zaobao visited the location later that day, it was observed that the affected vehicle had been towed away, while the area around the parking lot remained cordoned off.
Blackened marks were still visible on the walls near the parking space, while a burnt smell lingered at the scene.
A male resident told Shin Min Daily News that he heard a series of explosions and saw a white car engulfed in flames.
EVs linked to 4 of 226 vehicle fires in 2025
According to the SCDF's annual statistics report released on Feb 11, four of the 226 vehicle fires recorded in Singapore in 2025 involved EVs. Three of the cases were attributed to electrical faults involving the battery.
SCDF said EVs accounted for 6.82 per cent of Singapore's vehicle population as of the end of 2025, while their adoption has continued to rise.
In the first nine months of 2025, electric cars accounted for 43 per cent of new car registrations, up from 33.8 per cent in 2024.

2025年，电动汽车与226起车辆火灾中的4起有关
根据新加坡民防部队2月11日发布的年度统计报告，2025年新加坡记录的226起车辆火灾中，有4起涉及电动汽车。其中3起事故归因于电池相关的电气故障。
新加坡民防部队表示，截至 2025 年底，电动汽车占新加坡车辆总数的 6.82%，而且电动汽车的普及率还在持续上升。
2025 年前九个月，电动汽车占新车注册量的 43%，高于 2024 年的 33.8%。
