Local mobile phone repair and retail shop Mister Mobile has asked the public not to speculate after footage has gone viral of a man damaging fixtures at their outlet in VivoCity.
The video uploaded by Sgfollowsall on Friday (Sept 25) shows the incident, reportedly from around 2.30pm that day.
A man in a red t-shirt standing outside the shop can be seen throwing something at a shopkeeper, before pulling at fixtures on the counter.
The man can then be seen handling a shop standee before getting into a physical altercation with a security guard who tries to stop him.
Another man seemingly deescalates the situation and leads the man in red away from the store with a hand rubbing his back.
"All I know is he started venting his anger on the Mister Mobile staff and he also started hitting the VivoCity staff," the person who submitted the video to Sgfollowsall shared.
A comment on the video wondered why nobody at the shop tried to stop him as he damaged their fixtures.
Others speculated on the man's mental health.
Mister Mobile commented on the video from their official Instagram account, thanking netizens for their concern.
"An individual became agitated after a trade-in could not proceed, and later returned and damaged some of our store fixtures," they explained.
"Most importantly, all our team members are safe and none required medical attention. We are grateful to VivoCity security, the kind passer-by who helped, and the police for their quick response."
They added that the matter was now with the police and that they would be assisting them with the store's CCTV footage.
"We understand the individual may be going through a difficult time, and we kindly ask everyone to refrain from speculation. We will not be commenting further."
19-year-old assisting with police investigations
The police, in response to AsiaOne's queries, said that they received a call for assistance at 1 Harbourfront Walk on Sept 25 at about 2.35pm.
A 19-year-old man is assisting with investigations for mischief and voluntarily causing hurt. No injuries were reported.
The police said that investigations are ongoing.

他们补充说，此事目前已交由警方处理，他们将提供商店的监控录像协助警方调查。

19岁青年协助警方调查
警方在回应 AsiaOne 的询问时表示，他们于 9 月 25 日下午 2 点 35 分左右接到求助电话，地点位于港湾道 1 号。
一名19岁男子因涉嫌恶意破坏和故意伤人正在协助调查。据报道，无人受伤。
警方表示，调查仍在进行中。
