Gold drops more than 2% on US rate-hike bets

GOLD prices fell more than 2% on Monday as a rise in oil prices heightened inflation concerns and reinforced expectations of further Federal Reserve interest-rate hikes.

Gold prices fell more than 2% on Monday as a rise in oil prices heightened inflation concerns and reinforced expectations of further Federal Reserve interest-rate hikes.

Spot gold was down 2.7% at $4,171.85 per ounce, as of 0627 GMT, hitting its lowest since early August. US gold futures fell 2.7% to $4,204.30.
