The Perak State Government emphasizes the importance of strengthening its partnership with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers to foster industrial sector growth, enhance local company capabilities, and create high-value jobs.

Speaking at the FMM Perak 58th Anniversary Annual Dinner, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad highlighted the need for cooperative efforts to maintain Perak's competitiveness and attract quality investments.

He also noted the importance of addressing infrastructure and operational issues through effective coordination between state agencies and industry players to ensure a conducive investment environment.

IPOH, Oct 1 — The long-standing relationship between the Perak State Government and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) must be further strengthened, as the development of the industrial sector requires close cooperation between the government and industry players.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad stated that all parties have a role to play in ensuring Perak remains competitive and capable of attracting quality investments.

“We want growth in the manufacturing sector to generate broader impacts on the state’s economy.

“Investments must build the capabilities of local companies, enhance workforce skills, and create more high-value job opportunities for the people of Perak,” he said while speaking at the FMM Perak 58th Anniversary Annual Dinner at a hotel in Meru Raya here last night.

Also present at the event were Perak Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee, FMM president Jacob Lee Chor Kok, and FMM Perak chairman Chua Kay Lin.

Meanwhile, Saarani said the manufacturing sector’s current performance instills confidence that this foundation is being successfully established.

He noted that the next challenge lies in sustaining this momentum by boosting productivity, expanding technology adoption, strengthening local supply chains, and developing talent that aligns with industry needs.

Separately, Saarani expressed the state government’s deep appreciation for the cooperation of the FMM Perak Branch in conveying insights and feedback from industry players.

He emphasised that issues concerning infrastructure, utilities, approvals, workforce, or other operational matters must continue to be brought to mutual attention so that appropriate solutions can be found.

“At the same time, relevant agencies must continue to act as facilitators for investors and the industry.

“Coordination among state agencies, local authorities, and utility providers is crucial to ensure that issues arising during project implementation can be addressed more effectively,” he said. — Bernama
