Vendors reportedly selling sex drugs have surfaced in Geylang, with as many as eight makeshift stalls spotted within a 50m stretch.

The vendors were allegedly seen operating along three walkways near the junction of Geylang Road and Aljunied Road, including outside a hotel on Aljunied Road, according to Shin Min Daily News.

This is despite police surveillance cameras and notices reportedly being installed at the intersection.

During a recent visit, reporters from the Chinese daily observed eight men, estimated to be between 30 and 70 years old, allegedly selling such products.

At least four makeshift stalls were lined up near the entrance of a hotel, with each displaying more than 10 types of products.

The vendors were also seen soliciting customers, approaching lone male passers-by and offering them the products.

Despite the number of stalls, business appeared slow, with only three men stopping to browse over the course of an hour and none appearing to buying anything, the Chinese publication said.

Several other individuals were also spotted operating alone in more secluded corners and alleyways in the surrounding area, according to Shin Min Daily News.

The vendors appeared alert to their surroundings, with some sitting opposite each other along the walkways and using their phones, while others in the vicinity appeared to act as lookouts, communicating with the vendors by phone.

Residents say vendors are too close to homes

The vendors' presence has also drawn complaints from nearby residents.

A nearby resident, who wished to be known only as Li, 35, told Shin Min the area where the vendors were operating was about 100m from her home.

"I will see it as soon as I step out of my house. It is really indecent," she said.

Chen, 28, said he occasionally visits eateries in the area with his girlfriend, who would ask him to walk away quickly, as she feels embarrassed by the vendors' presence.

Under the Health Products Act, any business or individual convicted of selling illegal health products can face a fine of up to S$50,000, up to two years' imprisonment, or both.
