Cyclist, 62, dies in Defu accident; trailer driver arrested after leaving scene

A 62-year-old female cyclist died after an accident in the Defu industrial area. A 43-year-old male trailer driver was later arrested for careless driving causing death.

The accident happened at about 10.10am on Thursday (Oct 1) at the junction of Defu Avenue 1 and Defu Lane 7.

A video of the aftermath posted by Shin Min Daily News shows the front wheel of the bicycle visibly damaged.

Evidence markers could be seen placed along the one-lane road, with at least one investigator holding a clear bag containing items likely collected from the scene.

In response to AsiaOne's queries, the police said they were alerted to the accident involving a bicycle and a trailer at about 10.10am.

The 62-year-old cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

According to the police, the trailer driver had left the scene before officers arrived.

He was subsequently arrested for careless driving causing death.

Police investigations are ongoing.

针对 AsiaOne 的询问，警方表示，他们于上午 10 点 10 分左右接到一起涉及自行车和拖车的事故报警。

这名62岁的骑自行车者被新加坡民防部队医护人员当场宣布死亡。

警方称，拖车司机在警员到达现场前已经离开。

他随后因疏忽驾驶致人死亡而被捕。

警方调查仍在进行中。
