A 25-year-old man was arrested on Friday (Oct 2) for his alleged involvement in a case of motorcycle theft.

Police said in a news release on the same evening that they were alerted to the case at Fernvale Street on Thursday.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the man's identity through extensive ground enquiries.

Investigations have revealed that the man did not possess a valid driving licence and that the motorcycle's key had been left at its ignition slot.

The man will be charged in court on Saturday with the offence of theft of motor vehicle.

If found guilty of the said offence, he could be jailed for up to seven years and fined.

Motorcycle owners are advised to park their vehicles in well-lit areas and to always remove the ignition key and lock their motorcycles, whenever it is left unattended.

Spare keys or transponders should never be left inside any storage compartments of the motorcycle, the police said.
