Pakatan Harapan (PH) is set to announce its candidates for the Melaka state election within the next fortnight, as confirmed by PH election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The coalition's election machinery has been prepared smoothly over the past two months, although final coordination and mutual understanding are still pending.

Seat distribution among PH's component parties at the state level has been completed, with the final arrangement pending further discussions.

PH remains open to collaboration with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) if opportunities arise, but is prepared to proceed independently.

KLANG, Oct 3 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) is expected to announce its candidates for the Melaka state election within the next one or two weeks, says PH election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the coalition’s election machinery preparations have been progressing smoothly over the past two months.

“Our machinery is moving and ready. It is only the coordination, alignment, and mutual understanding that are yet to be finalised.

“God willing, in the near future — within a week or two — we will announce the candidates who will be contesting,” he said when met at the launch of the Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor (Tawas) ‘Tuaian Anak Harapan’ (Tuah) Initiative at the KSL Convention Centre here today.

On September 27, Melaka PH confirmed that seat distribution among its component parties at the state level for the Melaka state election had been completed.

Melaka PH chairman Adly Zahari was reported as saying that the final seat arrangement, however, would be concluded following discussions among the PH Presidential Council, state PH leadership, and Amirudin as PH election director.

Meanwhile, asked about PH’s cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) for the state election, Amirudin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, said PH remains open to discussions if there is room for such collaboration.

“If there is room, we will discuss. If not, we are ready to contest based on our existing capacity and understanding,” he said.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh previously announced that the state legislative assembly was dissolved effective September 23 after obtaining the consent of Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam. — Bernama
