A 42-year-old man was apprehended after he was rescued from the aircon ledge of a flat in Bukit Panjang on Sunday (Oct 4) morning.
The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told AsiaOne they received a call for assistance at Block 635B Senja Road, where a man was spotted standing on the air-con ledge of an eighth-floor unit.
Two photographs seen by AsiaOne show at least one fire engine, a rescue tender and at least three police cars parked along a driveway near the block.
SCDF deployed a safety life air pack as a precautionary measure when they arrived at the scene.
As the man was assessed to possibly pose a danger to himself, the police activated officers from their Crisis Negotiation Unit, while SCDF deployed its Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART).
DART rescuers rappelled down from the unit above and brought the man to safety at about 9.50am.
The 42-year-old was taken conscious to hospital and subsequently apprehended under Section 7(1) of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act.
Under the Act, the police have the power to arrest anyone believed to be a danger to himself or other people.

周日（10月4日）上午，一名42岁男子在武吉班让一间公寓的空调窗台上被救出后被捕。
警方和新加坡民防部队 (SCDF) 告诉 AsiaOne，他们接到求助电话，称在 Senja Road 635B 座组屋，一名男子被发现站在八楼单元的空调窗台上。
亚洲新闻网看到的两张照片显示，至少有一辆消防车、一辆救援车和至少三辆警车停在街区附近的车道上。
新加坡民防部队到达现场后，出于预防措施，部署了安全生命维持空气呼吸器。
由于评估认为该男子可能对自己构成危险，警方启动了危机谈判小组的警员，而新加坡民防部队则部署了灾害援助和救援队（DART）。
上午 9 点 50 分左右，DART 救援人员从上面的装置上绳降下来，将该男子救出。
这名 42 岁的男子被送往医院时意识清醒，随后根据《精神健康（护理和治疗）法》第 7(1) 条被逮捕。
根据该法案，警方有权逮捕任何被认为对自己或他人构成危险的人。
