Prime Minister Anutin blessed to be PM for another 2 Terms

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul left the people who have been battling floods to attend the birthday party of his real boss – Newin Chidchob, in Buriram.

During the event that was attended by who’s who of Bhumjai Thai party, the birthday boy – Newin, who was celebrating his 68 th birthday, wished incumbent PM “to be Prime Minister until he gets bored” to which Anutin responded, “I am already bored”.

To counter the statement by Anutin that he’s already bored, “then I wish you remain Prime Minister for another 2 terms”.

All of the key Cabinet members from the Bhumjai Thai party were seen at the event in ‘Buriram Castle’

A Video Meeting to Lower Criticism

Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, along with cabinet members, traveled to Buriram to chair a National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command meeting at the provincial hall.

In light of widespread flooding across the country, this year’s birthday event was scaled down to a private family merit-making ceremony.

The organizers declined flowers and gifts, instead inviting well-wishers to donate to Buriram Hospital, with contributions exceeding 6 million Baht.

Media personnel were restricted to designated areas outside Shiva 12 Park and the replica Phanom Rung Stone Castle, leaving traditional rituals—such as the Chidchob family’s long-standing “Pa Kam Chang” elephant ritual—closed to press photography.

People’s Party Criticizes but only last year were all for this celebration

Veerayooth Kanchoochat, a party-list MP and Deputy Leader of the People’s Party, posted on Facebook, noting the date: October 4, 2026. While severe flooding was affecting multiple provinces across Thailand, Anutin and members of the Cabinet traveled to Buriram Province to attend the birthday celebration of Newin Chidchob.

Just last year on this same day floods were impacting other parts of the country but Anutin, who had become the Prime Minister with the help of People’s Party, had gone to the same birthday party in Buriam.

People’s Party leader – Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, had come out to say that Prime Minister may have had a lot of schedules and needs to manage his own plans accordingly.

In 2026 with the Prime Minister now not needing the support of People’s Party, has prompted People’s Party to wake up and criticize the way of working of Prime Minister Anutin.

People’s Party changes Game to Target Suchada Zhang Thaensap Bhumjaithai Party MP for Chaiyaphum

Rangsiman Rome—a party-list MP, Deputy Leader of the People’s Party, and Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights—has issued a notice for a committee meeting on October 7.

The agenda includes examining proactive legal policies and monitoring legal enforcement regarding alleged bribery linked to the suppression of online gambling websites, as well as reviewing legal measures concerning anti-money laundering and the regulation of digital asset businesses.

Ten individuals have been invited to provide testimony: Anutin Charnvirakul Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Chaiyachonok Chidchob Minister of Digital Economy and Society, the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, the Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, the Commissioner of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, the Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Secretary-General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), the Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as well as Suchada Zhang Thaensap Bhumjai Thai Party MP for Chaiyaphum and her husband, Taiyang Zhang.

Human rights lawyer Noraset Nanongtoom plans to file a complaint with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) against Bhumjai Thai MP Suchada Zhang Thaensap regarding an unlisted luxury watch. Photos from campaign events and recent parliamentary meetings show the Chaiyaphum MP wearing what appears to be a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona valued at approximately 3.3 million Baht, despite her official March 15 asset declaration listing only a Rolex GMT-Master II “Sprite”.

Meanwhile Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Zhang Thaensap posted on Facebook, confirming that the petition will ask the NACC to investigate the watch’s ownership and determine whether the MP intentionally filed a false asset declaration or concealed required financial information. Noraset argued that if the luxury timepiece was in her possession when she assumed office, it should have been legally declared alongside her other assets.

Anyone with evidence linking individuals to scams, transnational crime, or illegal acts should gather proof and proceed strictly through the judicial system. Filing complaints, conducting investigations, and verifying facts ensure that any proven wrongdoing is met with legal action, as no one is above the law. Because severe accusations demand solid evidence, cases must be proven through facts. Making grave claims without evidence should hold individuals accountable for their statements.

Rangsiman Rome, a party-list MP and Deputy Leader of the People’s Party, provided an update on preparations to submit a no-confidence motion against the government, noting that the process of gathering facts—including specific allegations and the ministers involved—is currently underway. A final decision is expected to be made within the coming days. This no-confidence debate promises to be historic, as the opposition possesses a wealth of information to fully exercise its duty of scrutinizing the government.

However, there are concerns regarding intense pressure being exerted on the parliamentary secretariat, raising the possibility of political maneuvering aimed at obstructing or complicating the process of holding the debate.

Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, Secretary-General of the Progressive Movement, outlined his vision for a transformative mass party driven by clear ideology and long-term ideological battle (“War of Position”), like the role historically attempted by the Communist Party of Thailand. Reflecting on his journey from the Future Forward Party to the Move Forward Party and now the People’s Party, he warned that modern political markets and media dynamics tempt parties to stray from strategic, foundational work in favor of fast-paced, high-drama, and performative politics.

To prevent this drift, Piyabutr highlighted four political trends that parties aiming for structural change must strictly avoid or manage cautiously: “Entertainocracy” politics; “Hyperpolitics,” which raises political consciousness without delivering tangible structural outcomes; daily expose-driven politics that lack vision for long-term reform; and the reliance on a “Digital Party” structure with “Hyperleadership.” He noted that detailed explanations of these four risks will be provided in upcoming posts.

Two U.S. Navy warships arrived in Phuket for a scheduled visit from Oct. 4–9, bringing 5,109 personnel for rest and sightseeing. The aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush carries about 4,820 personnel and is anchoring roughly 3.3 kilometers off Phuket’s deep-sea port in Wichit. The destroyer USS Delbert D. Black carries about 289 personnel.

The visit is the carrier strike group’s first port stop since leaving the United States in March. Naval leaders will meet Thai officials, while sailors join cultural tours and community activities, including a U.S.-Thailand soccer match.

Anutin Charnvirakul – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, joined a meeting of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command via video conference from the Phanom Rung Meeting Room on the 4 th floor of the Buriram Provincial Hall. He connected to the meeting held at the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) headquarters to monitor the situation and coordinate assistance for flood victims.

Anutin has issued 4 urgent directives to accelerate flood relief operations and prepare for impending heavy rainfall across Thailand. Following a National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command meeting, the government ordered officials to expedite damage assessments and fast-track 9,000-Baht relief payments to affected households. Directives also focus on draining stagnant floodwaters, cleaning public spaces, and quickly restoring essential utilities such as electricity, water, and communications.

In addition to relief efforts in central and northern river basins, authorities have instructed 14 southern provinces—spanning from Prachuap Khiri Khan to Narathiwat—to brace for heavy downpours. Local governors, disaster management teams, and military units were directed to review emergency response plans, prepare equipment and evacuation shelters, and closely monitor warnings. The government also confirmed that affected households are covered under a national disaster insurance program to ensure swift financial support.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) warns of thunderstorms, strong gusts and isolated heavy to very heavy rain on 5–6 October. Residents should remain alert for flash floods and flooding in low-lying areas.

Another spell of increased rainfall is expected on 9–13 October across Bangkok, central and eastern Thailand, and the South.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt addressed the flooding situation in the capital, noting that conditions in major canals have improved—with the exception of Prawet Burirom Canal, which affects the Rom Klao, Lat Krabang, and Saphan Sung areas. He expects a significant improvement by October 5, at which point recovery efforts will commence; currently, the focus remains on recovery and accelerating the drainage of remaining floodwaters.

Regarding rainfall in Bangkok over the next 1–2 days, preparations have been made to lower water levels as much as possible. The Meteorological Department forecasts approximately 30 millimeters of rain.

While water levels might rise slightly—depending on whether the rain is prolonged—the situation will not mirror the recent heavy downpours that blanketed the city with 300 millimeters of rain.

The current weather pattern differs significantly from that previous event, which involved heavy, continuous rain over three days; the expected rainfall is typical of a standard monsoon, and the city is capable of managing the situation alongside normal northern water flows and tidal surges.

Meanwhile yesterday, heavy rain and strong gusts hit Bangkok, with significant hailstorms reported particularly in the Lat Phrao and Sai Mai areas.

Chanon Wasiksiri, Governor of Nakhon Nayok Province, signed an “Urgent” official letter dated October 4, 2026, addressed to the Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department, requesting immediate assistance with water management. The letter states that Nakhon Nayok is currently facing flooding, particularly in Ongkharak District—a low-lying area that serves as a water catchment zone.

Residents are suffering significant hardship due to rising water levels. Consequently, the province requests that the Royal Irrigation Department consider suspending water discharge into the Khlong 14, Khlong 15, and Khlong 16 canal systems to reduce the inflow of water into the area and prevent the flood situation from worsening or spreading further.

The flooding in Nakhon Nayok has affected 4 districts, 40 sub-districts, 409 villages, and 53,928 households.

Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun outlined flood relief initiatives following the establishment of a Single Command Centre at the Office of the Permanent Secretary to coordinate local needs nationwide. To reach severely impacted areas like Kabin Buri district in Prachin Buri and Sa Kaeo—where high floodwaters prevent standard vehicular access—the Ministry of Commerce has partnered with the Ministry of Defence to deploy high-clearance military vehicles to deliver relief bags and essential consumer items.

To counter potential shortages and price spikes in perishables like fresh vegetables and eggs, the ministry is closely monitoring controlled goods and requiring major retail chains and farming associations to submit weekly inventory reports. Additionally, officials have requested that producers voluntarily reduce exports by 30–50% over the next two to three weeks to secure domestic supply, while deploying inspectors to crack down on price gouging and hoarding.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) and the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) opened registration for disaster relief starting October 2, 2026. The system was rolled out gradually across officially designated disaster areas and is now fully active across all 65 eligible provinces as well as all 50 districts of Bangkok. As of the latest update, a total of 851,547 people has registered through the “Tang Rat” application. Bangkok recorded the highest number of applicants at 371,775, followed by Samut Prakan 122,786, Pathum Thani 105,525 and Chachoengsao 34,604.

Under a September 29 Cabinet resolution, eligible households affected by flooding between May 15 and September 30 will receive 9,000 Baht for flooded homes or 5,000 Baht if daily life was disrupted for more than seven consecutive days, while families of victims who died from floods or mudslides can claim 2 million Baht in funeral assistance.

The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Centre’s assessment at 6am on October 4 recorded 1,171,165 affected households, representing 3,262,676 people. Flooding covered 154 districts, 1,209 subdistricts and 8,790 villages in the 27 provinces, as well as Bangkok.

Industry Minister Varawut Silpa-archa revealed that recent flooding across 55 provinces impacted 4,216 business entities, causing total damages estimated at 147.84 million Baht. Affected enterprises include 4,006 SMEs, 126 industrial plants, 82 OTOP community enterprises, and 2 mining operations, with Bangkok (1,114) and Samut Prakan (499) topping the affected areas. Survey results indicated that 95% of impacted operators urgently require financial assistance. In response, the Department of Industrial Works is preparing annual fee waivers for factories in flooded zones to alleviate their operating costs.

To address funding needs, financial institutions under the ministry are rolling out targeted relief packages. The SME Development Bank (SME D Bank) is offering up to 12 months of principal and interest suspension, alongside emergency loans worth up to 10% of existing credit lines (capped at 200,000 Baht) at the MLR interest rate with a 12-month principal grace period. Additionally, the Department of Industrial Promotion (DIPROM) launched the 50-million-Baht “Fast Cash for Disaster Recovery” credit line, granting good-standing existing borrowers an automatic 4-month debt pause and 50% installment reductions for 6 months, while new applicants can secure up to 1 million Baht per business at 0% interest for the first 6 months.

Chaiwat Luangamornlert, Chairman of the Executive Board and founder of Siam Park (Siam Amazing Park), revealed that despite discussions with relevant parties regarding assistance and rehabilitation for the park, no progress has been made. He stated that he is willing to sell Siam Amazing Park—comprising a 220-rai site and a workforce of 500 employees—for 10 billion Baht to any interested buyer.

“We no longer have the funds to operate; the money has run out. Discussions with relevant parties suggest that budget support for rehabilitation is unlikely to materialize. Am I sad? I don’t even know how to feel sad anymore; my heart is no longer in it. I admit I am exhausted, as we have suffered continuous losses. Although many people have made inquiries, no one has actually committed to buying. If the Prime Minister were to step in and purchase it, I would welcome that.”

Since the flooding incident, Chaiwat has continued to visit Siam Amazing Park in person every day.

A recent Suan Dusit Poll survey of 1,331 citizens nationwide reveals that family and loved ones are the primary source of encouragement during tough times for 68.75% of Thais, while 69.95% emphasize preparing emergency essentials to manage crises. Amid ongoing flooding, the most common message of support shared among the public is “Keep fighting, I support all Thais” (61.08%), with 59.43% urging the government to deliver immediate, on-the-ground relief to affected communities.

Dr. Pornphan Buathong, Chair of the Suan Dusit Poll, noted that the findings highlight strong public resilience, mutual support, and heightened disaster readiness. Crucially, the public expects the government to act quickly and implement systematic, long-term flood management rather than relying on quick-fix financial handouts—ensuring the state is a reliable pillar in crises to prevent repeated suffering.

Ekkapob Pianpises, Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson, clarified reports regarding proposed amendments affecting four autonomous organizations and funds—the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), Thai PBS, the Older Persons Fund, and the National Sports Development Fund. He stated that claims suggesting the changes would benefit alcohol and tobacco companies or cut off income sources misrepresent the draft legislation. Manufacturers and importers will remain subject to excise taxes; the proposal simply shifts funding from directly earmarked tax allocations to standard state fiscal mechanisms and annual budgetary reviews.

He emphasized that tax collection is not being abolished, nor are the four bodies or their missions being dissolved. Instead, the amendments aim to bring public funds under a centralized fiscal system to enhance transparency and budgetary oversight. All four draft laws are currently in the public hearing stage and have not yet been enacted.

The Sustainable Thai Society Health Media Network has submitted an open letter to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, calling for a halt to proposed legislation that would strip Thai PBS, ThaiHealth, the Elderly Fund, and the Sports Authority of Thailand of their 14 billion Baht annual earmarked tax funding in favor of state budget allocations. The network questioned the timing and legal grounds of the move during a national flood crisis, warning that shifting these costs to the state budget will exacerbate fiscal deficit pressures.

The group expressed deep concern that converting to state budget allocations—especially under terms funding operations only “as necessary”—will strip ThaiHealth of guaranteed revenue and compromise Thai PBS’s editorial independence. Urging Anutin to suspend the bills, the network insisted that any future funding reforms must ensure financial stability, safeguard organizational independence, and involve meaningful public consultation beyond brief online hearings.

Patricia Mongkhonvanit, Director-General of the Comptroller General’s Department, announced that total disbursement for Fiscal Year 2026 and carried-over funds from FY2025 (Oct 1, 2025 – Sep 30, 2026) reached 3,922,090.17 million Baht (95.63% of the total 4,101,265.49 million Baht budget), up 5.35% year-on-year. Overall spending stood at 4,177,708.97 million Baht (101.86%).

Specifically, the FY2026 main budget of 3,780,600.00 million Baht recorded 3,623,019.44 million Baht in actual disbursements (95.83%), exceeding the government target by 2.83%, while 245,043.44 million Baht (6.48%) was rolled over to FY2027.

For capital expenditure, which had an allocated budget of 781,874.80 million Baht, total spending reached 779,619.88 million Baht (99.71%), slightly below target by 0.29%. Actual disbursements for capital projects totaled 586,944.42 million Baht (75.07%), edging past the target by 0.07%, with 193,509.25 million Baht (24.75%) carried forward as rollover funds into FY2027.

On Friday, October 2, the SET Index closed at 1,571.62 points, up 7.71 points (0.49%), with a trading value of 71,085.86 million Baht. The index staged a technical rebound, trading in positive territory throughout the day following a prior sharp decline, supported by short-covering activity—particularly in banking and large-cap stocks.

However, US government bond yields remaining at elevated levels continue to exert pressure and limit the stock market’s upside potential. Meanwhile, the Thai stock market’s fundamental outlook remains constrained by modest earnings growth among listed companies and sluggish domestic economic expansion. With US bond yields exceeding 5%—surpassing the Thai stock market’s dividend yield of approximately 3%—the appeal of Thai equities to foreign investors remains limited. Furthermore, the market is entering the Q3/2026 earnings announcement season; for the banking sector specifically, earnings per share (EPS) growth is expected to be minimal.

Regarding the outlook for today, the index is expected to move sideways, with resistance at 1,580 points and support at 1,560 points.

Chartered Group celebrated a major milestone as its early-backed company, XTEND AI Robotics (NYSE: XTND), rang the Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange. XTEND specializes in “Physical AI” and autonomous systems for defense and public safety, debuting at a valuation of roughly $1.5 billion after raising $110 million.

Group founder Eyal Agmoni, who holds an ultimate beneficial interest of about 20% in XTEND, stated that the Wall Street listing is a stepping stone rather than an exit, underscoring the group’s intent to remain a long-term strategic partner.

Alongside its tech strategy, Chartered Group reaffirmed its strong investment commitment to Thailand, citing its favorable economic fundamentals and strategic position in ASEAN. The group holds a 16.82% stake in Bangchak Corporation (BCP) to capture regional energy transition opportunities and a 24.96% stake in MFC Asset Management (MFC) to expand wealth management initiatives. Together, these positions reflect Chartered Group’s core approach of holding sizable, long-term investments in key sectors undergoing structural change.

Sacked Thai Airways CEO Chai Eamsiri has strongly denied online allegations accusing him of corruption and improper interference in the airline’s wine procurement process. Taking to Facebook, Chai asserted that the procurement strictly adhered to the airline’s established regulations, remains open to internal auditing, and should be evaluated through formal investigation rather than media speculation.

The allegations are of corruption in procurement of 800,000 bottles of wine worth more than 800 million Baht for use in 2026 inflight service.

He emphasized his 41-year unblemished career, describing himself as financially modest and fully open to scrutiny by Thai investigative bodies regarding any corruption claims.

Chai was recently dismissed by the Thai Airways board following widespread operational chaos and baggage handling failures at Suvarnabhumi Airport during severe local flooding. While accepting criticism regarding other operational matters, he insisted that he cannot tolerate unsubstantiated accusations of corruption, maintaining that any alleged wrongdoing should be properly handled by the airline’s internal audit department and audit committee

On October 2, 2026, Lawaron Sangsnit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Chairman of Thai Airways International (THAI), announced that the board voted to suspend CEO Chai Eamsiri. The decision follows operational disruptions caused by recent floods, prompting a formal investigation into the matter. Director Samrit Sumneang has been appointed as Acting CEO, effective October 2, 2026.

In response, Chai clarified that he was placed on suspension, not terminated, and remains a company employee. He stated that he had not been asked to resign prior to the meeting and accepted the board’s decision to ensure a transparent investigation. Regarding speculation about internal or external politics, Chai declined to comment on whether it influenced the decision, though he acknowledged widespread interest in the role. Reflecting on his 41-year tenure, he expressed gratitude to his staff and shared plans to spend time with his family.

Sarath Ratanavadi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited (GULF), reported the acquisition of an additional 5 million ordinary shares of the company on September 30, 2026. The shares were purchased at an average price of 59.25 Baht per share, totaling 296.25 million Baht (approximately 300 million Baht).

The transaction was executed via the Stock Exchange of Thailand’s “Auto Matching” system through Bualuang Securities. As a result, Sarath’s shareholding in GULF increased to 4,368.15 million shares—representing 29.24% of the company’s total voting rights—up from a pre-transaction holding of 4,363.15 million shares.

PTT Oil and Retail Business (OR) has signed a joint venture agreement with Centara Hotels & Resorts, holding a 49% and 51% stake respectively, to develop budget hotels at strategic locations both inside and outside PTT Stations nationwide. The initial phase will pilot 6 prototype hotels in major destinations including Phuket, Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya, Songkhla (Hat Yai), Chonburi, and Bangkok. Featuring universal “Friendly Design” accessibility for all guests, 24-hour CCTV security, and essential amenities, the hotels aim to cater to modern road travelers with affordable rates starting at 800–1,300 Baht per night.

Designed with energy efficiency and eco-friendliness in mind, the budget hotels are expected to begin operations progressively between 2027 and 2028, with a target of expanding to 50 locations by 2031. This initiative aims to transform PTT Stations from mere stopovers for refueling into reliable, safe overnight destinations across Thailand. By maximizing the value of existing station land, OR seeks to generate new revenue streams from its customer base while supporting the recovery of the nation’s tourism industry.

Premchai Karnasuta has retired as president of Italian-Thai Development Plc (ITD), effective October 1, 2026. Thoranis Karnasuta, Premchai’s youngest son, will continue serving as acting president under a board resolution approved in December 2021. ITD said it would announce the appointment of a new president at an appropriate time.

Thai customs authorities at Suvarnabhumi Airport arrested two foreign passengers arriving from Jakarta, Indonesia, after officers discovered undeclared US dollar banknotes in their luggage valued at over 56 million Baht ($1.6 million). Santanee Phairattanakorn, director of the airport’s Passenger Control Customs Office, confirmed that the seized currency violated Thailand’s customs regulations and exchange control laws governing cross-border money movements.

The operation reflects a broader initiative by Thai authorities to crack down on currency smuggling and mitigate risks associated with international money laundering. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing stringent airport checks and urged all travelers to strictly adhere to foreign exchange declaration requirements when entering or leaving the country.

The 20 th Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya 2026” officially concluded in Japan on October 4, 2026, at the Paloma Mizuho Stadium, handing over the host flag to Doha, Qatar, for the 21st Asian Games in 2030. The Thai national sports delegation finished 7th on the medal table, securing a total of 52 medals, comprising 18 gold, 13 silver, and 21 bronze medals.

A major highlight for Thailand was sprinter “Bew” Puripol Boonson, who was selected by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) as the Male Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2026 Asian Games alongside a $25,000 cash prize. Puripol claimed gold medals in both the men’s 100-meter and 200-meter events while breaking the Asian Games records for both, in addition to winning a silver medal in the mixed 4×100-meter relay. With this honor, Puripol became the first athlete from Thailand and ASEAN to win an Asian Games MVP award, as well as only the second track and field athlete to receive the recognition since its inception at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.

A century-old historic villa located within the former Dutch Embassy compound on Wireless Road has been demolished on October 2, following the embassy’s relocation to Dusit Central Park in August. The estate’s history traces back to 1911, when Prince Sapphasat Suphakit acquired the land and commissioned the villa. Over the decades, the property passed through notable hands, including French physician Dr. Alphonse Poix and Prince Boworadet—who led the 1933 royalist rebellion—before being sold to the Dutch government in 1949 for 1.85 million Baht.

Serving as a hub for Dutch diplomatic and community life for over seven decades, the compound was widely recognized for its cultural, historical, and architectural significance, alongside its sprawling green gardens. Despite previous public calls for its preservation upon the announcement of the estate’s sale, the historic structure has now been torn down. The Dutch Embassy currently operates from the 22nd floor of Central Park Offices on Rama IV Road, while plans for the redeveloped Wireless Road site remain unannounced.
