Perikatan Nasional leaders have initiated a judicial review to contest the Registrar of Societies' (ROS) indefinite suspension of their activities, alongside a notice questioning the coalition's registration status.

The challenge, filed by the secretary-generals of all PN component parties, has impeded their preparations for the Melaka state polls as their ability to contest under their own banner remains uncertain.

Despite requesting a meeting with the ROS on September 24, the coalition has yet to receive a response and is seeking an expedited judicial review with the election approaching.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — Perikatan Nasional leaders have filed a judicial review challenging the Registrar of Societies’ (ROS) indefinite suspension of the coalition’s activities, as well as a notice requiring them to explain why the bloc should not be deregistered.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the application for judicial review was filed by the secretary-generals of all PN component parties.

The ROS suspension has disrupted PN’s preparations for the Melaka state polls, with the status of whether the coalition can contest under its own banner remaining unclear.

PN, through its lawyers, had on Sept 24 requested a meeting with the ROS but has yet to receive a response.

Takiyuddin said the coalition had requested that the judicial review application be expedited, given that the Melaka state election is approaching.
