Photos showing a damaged wall at what appears to be Jem mall's carpark have surfaced on social media, sparking concern among some netizens.

Pictures of the aftermath shared on Facebook page Singapore Incidents on Tuesday (Oct 6) show a large, gaping hole in a wall panel near Lift Lobby 1.

The post caption wrote: "Jem carpark? Someone must be so desperate to showcase their parking skills. Are these walls for showcase only? Imagine if the basement gets soaked or flooded and then the walls start falling."

Two other pictures, taken from behind the damaged section, show debris scattered across the floor, including broken pieces of plaster.

Some netizens joked about what could have caused it.

One netizen quipped: "Who drove a tank into the carpark???"

"Hulk was here," joked another.

The incident took place on Tuesday (Oct 6) morning in the second basement level of Jem, Lendlease said in response to media queries.

The Jurong East shopping mall is managed by Lendlease.

A vehicle had collided with a wall panel near a lift lobby, and no injuries were reported, the statement said.

It added that its security and technical teams responded promptly to secure the area, and the affected section has been temporarily cordoned off while repair works are carried out.

Operations at Jem were not affected, and both the mall and carpark remain open, said a spokesperson for the mall.

AsiaOne has reached out to Lendlease, the police and the Building and Construction Authority for more information.
