National pair Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King won their men's doubles match against compatriots Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong in straight sets.

Professional men's doubles pair Chia Weijie-Teo Ee Yi progressed by defeating Lithuania's Danielius Berzanskis-Domas Paksys.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 — Malaysia’s independent men’s singles player, Lee Zii Jia, advanced to the second round of the Arctic Open Badminton Championships after defeating Chinese player Dong Tian Yao yesterday.

Playing at the Energia Areena, Zii Jia faced no trouble in defeating his opponent in straight sets, 21-18, 21-14.

The former All England champion is scheduled to face Taiwan’s Su Li Yang, who defeated his compatriot Lin Chun Yi 21-17, 21-6.

Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles event, national pair Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King comfortably brushed aside the challenge of compatriots Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong in straight sets, 21-12, 21-13.

Aaron-Roy King will face the seventh seeds from Taiwan, Lee Fang Chih-Lee Fang Jen, who defeated the Italian pair Alessandro Gozzini-Luca Zhou 21-8, 21-10.

Also advancing is the professional men’s doubles pair, Chia Weijie-Teo Ee Yi, who defeated the Lithuanian combination Danielius Berzanskis-Domas Paksys 21-12, 21-12.

The pair will next face the Taiwanese duo Lai Po Yu-Tsai Fu Cheng, who defeated the Danish pair Kim Astrup-Anders Rasmussen 21-15, 21-17. — Bernama
