SINGAPORE – A full-time national serviceman (NSF) was pronounced dead in the hospital after he was found unconscious at the foot of a building in Pulau Tekong on the afternoon of Oct 8 .
In a Facebook post, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said that the incident happened at 1.22pm at a building at Basic Military Training School 3, and that he was not involved in training at the time of the incident.
He was immediately taken to Pulau Tekong Medical Centre for emergency treatment, and later evacuated via helicopter to Singapore General Hospital.
He arrived at Singapore General Hospital at 2.05pm and was pronounced dead at 2.27pm .
“The Ministry of Defence and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) extend their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased,” the ministry said in its Facebook post.
“The SAF is assisting the family in their time of grief.”
Investigations are ongoing.

新加坡——10月8日下午，一名全职国民服役人员（NSF）在德光岛一栋建筑物脚下被发现昏迷不醒，送医后被宣布死亡。
国防部在 Facebook 上发帖称，事件发生在下午 1 点 22 分，地点位于第三基础军事训练学校的一栋建筑物内，事发时他并未参与训练。
他立即被送往德光岛医疗中心接受紧急治疗，随后被直升机送往新加坡中央医院。
他于下午 2 点 05 分抵达新加坡中央医院，并于下午 2 点 27 分被宣布死亡。
国防部和新加坡武装部队向死者家属表示“最深切的慰问”。
“新加坡武装部队正在帮助家属度过这段悲痛的时期。”
调查仍在进行中。
