Singapore's public transport network is "lighting up" for the Deepavali with specially-decorated trains, buses and MRT stations.

This is a collaboration between the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the Little India Shop Owners and Heritage Association (LISHA), Indian Heritage Centre, as well as public transport operators SBS Transit, SMRT, Tower Transit Singapore and Go-Ahead Singapore.

From Oct 8 to Nov 11, five trains on all six rail lines — Circle Line, Downtown Line, East-West Line, North-East Line, North-South Line and Thomson-East Coast Line — as well as bus services 23, 65, 97, 99, 147, 166, 188, 960, 963 and 965 will feature these decorations.

Little India, Dhoby Ghaut, Marine Terrace, Serangoon, Stevens and Woodlands MRT stations will also be similarly decorated.

In line with Deepavali being the Festival of Lights, the decorations feature vibrant motifs such as elephants, traditional lamps and colourful rangoli patterns.

"The designs reflect the rich traditions of Deepavali, symbolising prosperity, light and unity," LTA said.
