A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) full-time national serviceman (NSF) has died after he was found unconscious at the foot of a building at Basic Military Training School 3.
In a statement posted on Facebook at about 3.45pm on Thursday (Oct 8), the Ministry of Defence said the incident happened at about 1.22pm.
MINDEF said the NSF was immediately conveyed to the Pulau Tekong Medical Centre for emergency treatment, and subsequently evacuated via helicopter to Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
According to MINDEF, the NSF arrived at SGH at 2.05pm and was pronounced dead at 2.27pm.
It added that the serviceman was not involved in any training at the time of the incident.
"MINDEF and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. The SAF is assisting the family in their time of grief."
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, MINDEF said.
In response to AsiaOne's queries, the police said they were alerted to the case at 2.40pm, adding that their investigations are ongoing.

一名新加坡武装部队(SAF)全职国民服役人员(NSF)被发现昏迷在第三基础军事训练学校一栋建筑物的底部,随后死亡。
国防部在周四(10 月 8 日)下午 3 点 45 分左右在 Facebook 上发表声明称,该事件发生在下午 1 点 22 分左右。
国防部表示,这名国民服役人员立即被送往德光岛医疗中心接受紧急治疗,随后被直升机送往新加坡中央医院。
据国防部称,这名国民服役人员于下午 2 点 05 分抵达新加坡中央医院,并于下午 2 点 27 分被宣布死亡。
声明还补充说,事发时该名军人并未参与任何训练。
“国防部和新加坡武装部队向死者家属致以最深切的慰问。新加坡武装部队正在协助家属度过这段悲痛时期。”
国防部表示,目前仍在对该事件进行调查。
针对AsiaOne的询问,警方表示,他们于下午2点40分接到报案,并补充说,他们的调查仍在进行中。
