The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly will hold its final sitting from October 12 to 21, addressing four bills, including the crucial Supply Bill (2027) which outlines the 2027 budget.

Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas will table the budget-related bills, while other bills include amendments to the Sarawak State Library and Public Holidays Ordinances.

Additionally, a new senator will be elected to succeed Senator Michael Mujah Lihan, whose term ends on December 10, 2026.

KUCHING, Oct 10 — The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting from October 12 to 21 will see four Bills tabled, including the Supply Bill (2027), 2026, which provides for the Sarawak 2027 Budget to be presented for approval.

Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said the sitting would be the last for the current term.

“This is the final DUN sitting, so it is very important,” he told a pre-sitting press conference at the headquarters of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) here yesterday.

The Supply Bill (2027), 2026, will be tabled by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, while the Supplementary Supply Bill (2026), 2026, will be tabled by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

State Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn will table the Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Bill 2026, while Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali will table the Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill.

Mohamad Asfia said the amendments to the Sarawak State Library Ordinance aimed to streamline governance and enable the establishment of a memorial archive to preserve materials relating to prominent figures, events, heritage, culture and the history of Sarawak.

“The amendments to the Public Holidays Ordinance aim to clarify the mechanism for replacement holidays when two public holidays fall on the same day,” he said.

In another development, Mohamad Asfia said the Sarawak DUN would also elect a new senator following the end of Senator Michael Mujah Lihan’s term of service on December 10, 2026. — Bernama
