30 evacuated after fire breaks out at Bukit Batok coffeeshop; 1 taken to hospital

A fire broke out at the ground-floor coffeeshop of an HDB block in Bukit Batok early Sunday (Oct 11) morning.

The incident happened at about 3.50am at Block 413 Bukit Batok West Avenue 4.

Videos shared online by residents and other members of the public show at least six firefighting appliances at the scene.

Thick black smoke can be seen billowing from the rear of the coffeeshop, and from behind several stalls.

Firefighters are seen moving between the front and rear of the shuttered coffeeshop.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told AsiaOne its firefighters later conducted forced entry into the coffeeshop.

According to SCDF, the fire involved the contents of three food stalls within the coffeeshop.

During firefighting operations, police and SCDF officers evacuated 30 people from the affected block as a safety precaution.

SCDF said one evacuated person was taken to Ng Teng Fong Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

新加坡民防部队（SCDF）告诉AsiaOne，其消防员随后强行进入了这家咖啡店。

据新加坡民防部队称，火灾涉及咖啡店内三个食品摊位的物品。

在灭火行动中，警方和新加坡民防部队人员出于安全考虑，从受影响的街区疏散了 30 人。

新加坡民防部队表示，一名被疏散人员被送往黄廷方医院。

火灾原因正在调查中。
