The rightmost lanes of Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway will close from October 12 to February 28, 2027, for construction works.

The lane closures are necessary for safe construction of an elevated U-turn to enhance road connectivity and traffic flow.

Motorists should plan journeys, follow signage, and exercise caution near affected areas, with updates on construction progress to be provided by IJM Land.

GEORGE TOWN, Oct 11 — The rightmost lanes along both directions of the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway will be temporarily closed from October 12 to February 28, 2027, to facilitate the next phase of construction works for an elevated U-turn.

IJM Land Berhad in a statement today said the closure would affect the median-side rightmost lanes of the George Town-bound and Bayan Lepas-bound carriageways.

The master developer of THE LIGHT Waterfront Penang said the lane closures and traffic diversions were necessary to provide a safe working area for the construction works.

“The initial phase of construction for the elevated U-turn was successfully completed in early September, and upon completion, the elevated U-turn is expected to complement the Air Itam Bypass, helping to improve road connectivity and traffic flow along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.

“Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead, follow directional signage, and exercise caution when approaching the affected areas,” according to the statement.

IJM Land said further updates would be provided as construction progressed, adding that it appreciated the public’s patience and understanding throughout the construction period. — Bernama
