Amazon has a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool that takes customer preferences into account and generates predictions around what it thinks it knows about their individual interests.

The tool, called “About You,” is part of Alexa for Shopping, Amazon’s AI shopping assistant. It builds a profile of each customer from five sources: their conversations with the assistant, product reviews, purchase history, Amazon Lists, and searches. While the tool was released in May, it’s now gaining traction after some online users started posting about some of the more outrageous assumptions made by the tool.
