3 teens arrested within 9 hours over alleged motorcycle theft in Yishun

Three male teenagers, aged between 16 and 19, were arrested on Sunday (Oct 11) night for their alleged involvement in a case of motorcycle theft.

Police said in a news release on Monday night that they received a report at about 2pm on Sunday.

According to the police, the motorcycle had been stolen from a multi-storey carpark along Yishun Avenue 4 and subsequently abandoned within the same area.

The trio were identified and arrested within nine hours of the report being lodged through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras.

A 19-year-old teenager will be charged in court on Tuesday, while the other two 16-year-old teenagers will be charged in court on Wednesday.

If found guilty of the offence of theft of a motor vehicle with common intention, the trio could each face jail of up to seven years, a fine, or both.

Motorcycle owners are advised to remove their ignition keys and lock their motorcycles whenever the vehicles are left unattended.

They should also avoid leaving spare keys or transponders in their motorcycles' storage compartments.

如果被判犯有共同盗窃机动车罪，这三人每人可能面临最高七年的监禁、罚款或两者并罚。

建议摩托车车主在离开车辆时拔出点火钥匙并锁好摩托车。

他们还应该避免将备用钥匙或应答器留在摩托车的储物箱内。
