A man allegedly blocked an SBS Transit bus and caused a commotion for nearly an hour in Sengkang on Sunday (Oct 11).

The white-haired elderly man was reportedly upset after being unable to board the bus.

The incident occurred at around 7pm at a bus stop in front of the multi-storey car park at Block 156A Rivervale Crescent, according to Lianhe Zaobao.

A bystander, identified as Shen Sirui, told Shin Min Daily News that she saw the man, who was dressed in a white shirt and jeans, standing on a zebra crossing in front of the bus stop and preventing SBS Transit service 371 from moving off.

Shen said she did not know exactly what had happened, but saw the man and the bus driver engaged in a heated argument.

The 40-year-old also provided photos showing the stationary bus with the man standing in front of it, repeatedly waving his arms and appearing visibly agitated.

According to Shin Min Daily, the commotion began after the bus allegedly drove off without stopping for the man, who had been waiting at the bus stop.

The man allegedly did not signal his intention to board as the bus approached, causing it to pass the stop without picking him up.

The bus reportedly stopped a short distance ahead at a zebra crossing to allow pedestrians to cross, and the man then walked towards the crossing and positioned himself in front of the vehicle.

He allegedly vented his frustration by shouting at the driver and demanding to be let on board.

However, the bus driver reportedly refused to open the doors and allow him to board.

The dispute reportedly continued for about an hour, with passengers eventually having to alight from the bus.

Shen said that there were initially no police officers at the scene, but several police vehicles later arrived after the commotion dragged on.

The man was eventually allowed to board the bus and was seen speaking with police officers inside.

AsiaOne has reached out to SBS Transit and the police for more information.
