The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is set to implement eight new trading measures and rule adjustments starting November 16, 2026. The new regulations cover tick size reductions, short-selling restrictions, order-to-trade ratio fees, high-frequency trading (HFT) oversight, and the removal of certain existing market constraints to improve trading efficiency and market appropriateness.
Key measures include narrowing the tick size for stocks priced between 5 and 50 baht to make bids and offer prices closer and charging a fee of 0.15 baht per item for unexecuted orders exceeding 15,000 items per day. Short-selling rules will be tightened by enforcing the Uptick rule on the following trading day if a stock closes down by 10% or more, while short selling will be limited to high-liquidity securities such as SET100 constituents, DRs, and ETFs.
Additionally, the framework requires high-frequency trading participants to register for proper supervision. The SET will also cancel the Dynamic Price Band, remove restrictions on the types of stocks HFT traders can buy and sell, and abolish the Minimum Resting Time requirement to provide greater operational flexibility and remove unnecessary system constraints.
NESDC Looks to Amend Ways to Calculate GDP Growth
Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), revealed that the agency is currently conducting a comprehensive review of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth figures for 2026—covering the first and second quarters—following the Office of Industrial Economics’ (OIE) revision of its Manufacturing Production Index (MPI) calculation methodology. This revision incorporates emerging manufacturing activities to more accurately reflect the current structure of Thailand’s industrial sector.
While the data updates show stronger industrial growth—such as a 4.44% year-on-year increase in August 2026—the NESDC noted that the complete recalculation will not be ready for the upcoming third-quarter GDP announcement in November. The full review is expected to yield clear, comprehensive macroeconomic figures by early 2027, though it remains too early to determine how the revised baseline will ultimately impact full-year growth rates.
The Oil Fuel Fund Administration Committee has announced an increase in contribution rates to the Oil Fuel Fund and adjustments to fuel price subsidies, effective October 14.
This move follows the Fund’s deficit surpassing 101 billion baht on October 11, 2026, driven by outflows exceeding inflows amidst volatile global oil prices. Consequently, a reduction in retail fuel prices appears unlikely unless global oil prices decline consistently. As of October 11, 2026, the Fund’s financial position showed a deficit of 101,681 million baht, comprising a 60,821-million-baht deficit in the oil account and a 40,860-million-baht deficit in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) account.
Tourism dips by 4% year-to-date
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has summarized the Thai tourism situation for the period from January 1 to October 10, 2026. Thailand recorded a cumulative total of 23.94 million foreign tourists, a decrease of 4.04% compared to the same period last year, generating total revenue of 1,165,341 million baht.
The top 5 source markets were:
China 4,078,133 tourists
Over the past week, the short-haul market segment slowed down following the conclusion of major holidays in key markets—specifically China’s Golden Week, Hong Kong’s National Day, and South Korea’s National Foundation Day. The number of foreign tourists dropped by 7.49% from the previous week, and a continued slowdown is anticipated for the coming week.
The Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EEC) is preparing a new comprehensive development master plan spanning 2028 to 2025 for Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, and Rayong. Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of EEC, announced that the upcoming plan shifts its primary focus toward infrastructure and utilities, particularly electricity and water, to support high-tech target industries.
Dr. Chula noted that the current development plan has achieved only about half of its intended targets due to delayed or unstarted projects. To enhance investor confidence and accelerate development, the new framework will open doors for increased private sector participation through various investment models, aiming to make the EEC region more attractive to global investors.
The updated strategy also addresses growing resource demands from high-tech industries and data centers, incorporating mandatory wastewater recycling requirements where incoming operators must reuse at least 25% of their water. Additionally, the plan emphasizes regional connectivity and infrastructure that extends beyond the immediate three provinces to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the country.
An estimated 100 to 120 million substandard products enter Thailand annually through duty-free zones and e-commerce channels, while government agencies can randomly inspect less than 3 percent of them due to resource constraints. This influx threatens consumer safety and undermines local businesses that comply with the law.
Aronpon Polบุตร, chairman of the FKII Thailand Institute, highlighted five major regulatory gaps during World Standards Day on October 14, 2569, spanning solar rooftops, electric vehicle charging cables, IoT devices, AI systems, and construction materials. He proposed a 90-day action plan featuring real-time alert platforms, a data center, and stricter oversight to protect consumers and elevate the National Quality Infrastructure.
Experts also urged establishing a traceability system for chemical precursors in health products and transforming quality standards from a perceived cost burden into a protective shield for SMEs preparing for global trade rules like the EU’s CBAM and EUDR.
On Monday, October 12, the SET Index closed at 1,571.74 points, down 5.91 points (0.37%), with a trading value of 55,934.03 million baht. The index fluctuated in negative territory throughout the day, pressured by significant declines in refinery and petrochemical stocks amid concerns over rising global oil supplies. Factors contributing to this included China resuming higher oil exports and G7 nations planning to release oil from emergency reserves, which exerted short-term pressure on oil prices and related equities.
Meanwhile, the market also faced selling pressure in the electronics components sector—particularly regarding DELTA—due to company-specific issues concerning a dispute between its parent company and the US.
However, commercial banking, power plant, and finance stocks helped support the index, bolstered by investment cycle themes—specifically the trend of investments in data centers and AI. These topics are among the key issues the market is monitoring during the IMF and World Bank annual meetings, which Thailand is hosting this week.
For today, the SET Index is expected to move sideways. It remains under pressure from fund flow dynamics and lacks new positive catalysts, creating a possibility of a slight downward drift in the short term. Key factors to watch include the IMF-World Bank meetings and the gradual release of earnings results from listed companies in both Thailand and the US, with the Thai banking sector leading the reporting cycle. The projected trading range is 1,560 points for support and 1,580 points for resistance.
Today TISCO Financial Group (TISCO) is scheduled to announce its Q3/2026 and nine-month financial results.
DBS Vickers Securities (DBSV) projects a Q3 net profit of 1.8 billion baht, up 4.8% year-on-year and 2.8% quarter-on-quarter, driven by net interest income growth from credit expansion—particularly electric vehicle (EV) hire-purchase loans—wider net interest margins (NIM), higher fee income, and lower credit costs.
Pre-provision operating profit (PPOP) is estimated at 2.8 billion baht, down 5.6% year-on-year but up 2.9% quarter-on-quarter. DBSV maintains a target price of 138 baht based on a 2026 P/BV of 2.48x, reflecting a significantly higher ROE than sector peers, while noting that the current stock price of 125 baht offers an expected annual dividend yield of 6.2%
Grand Asset Hotels and Property Public Company Limited (GRAND) has announced a default on its bond interest payment for the GRAND264A series, amounting to 19.32 million baht, due on October 12, 2026. The default stems from a liquidity shortage caused by delays in asset sales and sluggish conditions in the real estate sector.
The company is currently working to expedite asset sales and secure alternative financing to settle the overdue interest, along with default interest, within a 15-day grace period. Meanwhile, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has posted an SP (Suspension) sign on GRAND shares due to an incomplete audit committee composition.
Thai Airways suspended chief executive Chai Eamsiri sold nearly all his company shares on October 9, raising 252,000 baht from 45,000 shares at an average price of 5.60 baht, according to an SEC filing. The transaction occurred just a week after the airline’s board ordered him to step aside, leaving him with only 500 remaining shares.
His October 2 suspension pending review stems from operational failures during late-September floods—where severe staff shortages caused flight cancellations, cargo disruptions, and a massive baggage backlog at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The ongoing inquiry also examines alleged procurement irregularities involving 860,000 bottles of onboard service wine.
The Supreme Administrative Court has accepted an expedited appeal by NBTC chairman Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck over his position’s eligibility. The decision follows a September 25 lower court ruling that upheld a selection committee finding that Dr. Sarana lacked required qualifications under the NBTC Act.
Sarana maintains he has evidence to disprove the claims, asserting he properly resigned from all previous posts prior to his royal appointment. The top court’s fast-tracked review will determine whether he can legally retain his post.
KResearch said Thailand’s household debt-to-GDP ratio is projected to decline to 84% by the end of 2026, down from 86.8% in 2025. However, this reduction is largely attributed to tightening credit constraints on new borrowing rather than improved financial health, as total outstanding debt rose 0.6% year-on-year to 16.4 trillion baht in the second quarter of 2026 amid diverging credit trends.
The research highlights severe cash-flow pressures on low-income households, with those earning up to 15,000 baht a month spending 40.1% of their income on debt servicing—nearly half of whom face negative cash flows. KResearch warned that a simulated 10% surge in living costs or unforeseen expenses, such as flood repairs, could push an additional 1.2 million households into deficit, emphasizing that sustainable debt reduction requires raising incomes and repayment capacity.
Four Bhumjai Thai-proposed bills seeking to replace dedicated alcohol and tobacco tax funding with direct government budget allocations have faced overwhelming opposition in Parliament’s public consultation. The proposal affects four key entities: Thai PBS, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), the Elderly Fund, and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), with a large number of people voicing their objections via online channels.
Proposed by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and MP Supachai Jaisamut, the public consultation closes on October 14. As financial legislation, the compiled feedback will be submitted to Anutin for formal endorsement; without his approval, the bills cannot enter the House agenda and will automatically lapse.
The State Audit Office of Thailand has announced a live-streamed press conference regarding the results of its investigation into the expenditure and financial management of Thai PBS, the Thai Public Broadcasting Service.
The briefing is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the reception hall on the first floor of the State Audit Office.
The 2026 IMF–World Bank Meetings
Thailand Trumpeting its Slow Economic Growth
DPM Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas welcomed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) ‘s upward revision of Thailand’s 2026 GDP growth forecast to 2.1%, while asserting that growth can improve further by enhancing economic potential and strategic investment policies.
He said that with the private sector’s collaboration, the government aims to push growth above 3% as soon as possible, building on lessons learned from the 1997 Tom Yum Kung crisis to foster strong, inclusive, and stable long-term development.
The Bank of Thailand governor Vitai Ratanakorn said that the central bank expected the economy to expand in line with most analysts’ forecasts of 2% to 2.3%. The key drivers for the 2.3% target, he said, were exports projected to expand by 17–18% and private investment, with foreign direct investment expected to increase by as much as 13%. These figures represented particularly strong growth compared with previous years. The growing momentum in artificial intelligence was one of the factors helping to sustain economic growth.
He stated that while the current 1.00% policy interest rate provides sufficient policy space to absorb economic shocks, it is not yet time for a rate cut. He emphasized that monetary policy decisions remain strictly data-dependent, awaiting upcoming economic figures before the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) deliberates.
Additionally, the Bank of Thailand is set to launch the “Bangkok Blueprint for Fraud-Resilient Financial Services” at the 2026 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings. Developed in collaboration with the World Bank and the IMF, the framework features 12 key considerations designed to help global economies combat financial fraud, scams, and cyber risks.
IMF/World Bank Meeting is the Single Largest Gathering of Financial Dignitaries
The 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings hosted by Thailand, is the single largest gathering of finance executives in the world with as many as 20,000 people converging into Bangkok.
Mr. Ekniti revealed that nearly 20,000 participants registered over two days, setting a historic attendance record. Both international organizations commended Thailand’s world-class hosting standards, which successfully boosted global confidence and drew widespread praise from visiting international delegations.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned in its October 2026 World Economic Outlook report that broad price subsidy measures for tackling cost-of-living crises have significantly higher fiscal costs than direct cash transfers to vulnerable groups, ranging from 3 to 22 times higher. The IMF noted that price subsidies distort market mechanisms and fail to efficiently reach low-income households, with less than 20 cents of every euro spent on electricity, gas, and gasoline subsidies reaching low-income earners.
The report highlights that cost-of-living crises disproportionately impact low-income households, who spend a much higher proportion of their income on essential goods. The IMF estimates that these crises could increase severe poverty globally by nearly 23 million people. Consequently, the IMF recommends that governments temporarily implement targeted income support policies through existing social protection systems rather than relying on inefficient price subsidies that generate massive fiscal burdens.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects Thailand’s economy to grow by 2.1% in both 2026 and 2027, according to a statement released. While the 2026 forecast received an upgrade driven by the global AI boom, it remains lower than official domestic projections from the NESDC (2.2%) and the Bank of Thailand (2.3%). Globally, growth is expected to slow to 3.1% in 2026 before recovering to 3.4% in 2027, with inflation reaching 4.7% this year.
The IMF cautioned that economic buffers against geopolitical and trade disruptions are nearing their limits, posing risks alongside potential fiscal vulnerabilities and weaker AI demand.
To ensure long-term stability, the IMF urged governments with high debt to rebuild fiscal buffers through targeted support rather than broad subsidies, while advising Thailand to bolster productivity and resilience against energy and supply-chain shocks.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul inspected preparations for an official dinner hosted for finance ministers and central bank governors attending the 2026 World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings. The event, held under the theme “Thailand Welcomes The World,” features a musical performance by the Seraugrao Symphony Orchestra, a grand classical ensemble from Buri Ram province. As for the menu, it features renowned Thai dishes such as Tom Yum Goong.
During his inspection, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to globally recognized artist Nene Royal (Praew-Rattikan Amloy) for participating in the event. He noted that her international prominence makes her a fitting highlight for the distinguished global financial leaders in attendance.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has issued a ban on operating drones within the VT R1 Bangkok City restricted area for 24 hours on October 16, 2026. This security measure is implemented to ensure safety and order during the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings 2026, which are being held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and surrounding areas.
Except for officially authorized flights related to the summit—which require prior approval via the UAS Portal and coordination with the Metropolitan Police Bureau—all drone operations are strictly prohibited. Violators face legal penalties under the Air Navigation Act, carrying a maximum sentence of one year in prison, a fine of up to 40,000 baht, or both.
PM Anutin Calls on Pheu Thai party’s Ministers amid Censure Debate by Opposition
Yesterday morning, Anutin Charnvirakul—Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior—hosted a meal at the Thai Khu Fah Building for ministers from the Pheu Thai Party, including Yodchanan Wongsawat Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and Prasert Jantararuangtong Minister of Education. Ministers from the Bhumjai Thai Party, such as Paradorn Prissananantakul Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office and Phonphee Suwanchawee Deputy Minister of Interior, were also in attendance.
Following the meal and a discussion lasting over an hour, Anutin walked the Pheu Thai ministers to their vehicles, smiling and waving goodbye to each of them.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul revealed he hosted a breakfast meeting with Pheu Thai Party ministers, absent only Labour Minister Julapun Amornvivat due to illness and Agriculture Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit. Addressing the upcoming no-confidence debate, Anutin asked all ministries to thoroughly prepare information for the public and clarify any referenced issues, while expressing full confidence in Pheu Thai’s support based on their strong coalition track record since the Srettha Thavisin and Paetongtarn Shinawatra administrations.
Regarding House Speaker proceedings, Anutin noted that the motion is currently under review to ensure appropriate language before scheduling debate days. Dismissing queries about Democrat Party attacks on the “N” regime or specific opposition figures from the People’s Party, he stated he needs no parliamentary bodyguards, welcoming constructive criticism for the national interest while lightheartedly brushing off media remarks about his dramatic speaking style.
Bhumjai Thai party’s MP’s Case of ‘Unusually Rich’ not known to PM Anutin
Anutin stated he was unaware of National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) findings regarding asset declaration discrepancies involving Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Zhang Thaensap.
Asked whether he had discussed the matter with Suchada, Anutin remained silent,at that moment, live music rehearsal for Kamala Sukosol’s song Live and Learn echoed from Sant Maitree Building. Anutin hummed along with the lyrics, remarking, “Live with what you have, not what you dream of, and do your best with it,” refraining from further comment on the investigation.
Bhumjai Thai party’s secretary general – Chaichanok Chidchob, who is the Minister of Digital Economy and Society, affirmed that it is up to Suchada to provide clarification. Everything must proceed in accordance with the law; regardless of who is involved, one must be prepared to face scrutiny and explain the situation. Furthermore, the Bhumjaithai Party’s legal team is not handling this matter, as everyone has their own personal legal team.
Most recently, Suchada revealed that her husband, Taiyang Zhang, is preparing to hold a press conference this Wednesday to address the questions that have been raised.
Pol Maj Gen Siriwat Deepor, deputy police inspector-general currently assigned to the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, said that cyber police have launched an investigation into online gambling platform Shuffle.com following orders from the justice minister. The probe escalates scrutiny of Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Zhang Thaensap and her husband, Taiyang Zhang, over his alleged shareholding in the operation. The inquiry is underway, with findings to be reported directly to the minister. Cyber police stand ready to send a representative to testify before the House committee once formally summoned.
Meanwhile the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is reviewing Bhumjai Thai MP Suchada Zhang Thaensap’s asset declaration following scrutiny over income-to-debt mismatches, omitted details regarding her Australian husband’s occupation, and an undeclared luxury watch. The probe also addresses parliamentary concerns raised by Opposition MP Rangsiman Rome and former MP Sirichok Sopha regarding her husband’s alleged links to scam networks and gambling interests.
Clarifying that its financial review began prior to media coverage, the NACC is currently awaiting Suchada’s official explanation. While officials have confirmed clear discrepancies between her income and debt repayments, they noted that allegations regarding overseas gambling business shareholdings require further verification.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul addressed criticism from former Interior Ministry permanent secretary Suttipong Juljarern, who expressed shame over current ministry operations and targeted civil servants. Anutin noted that the remarks focused on officials rather than politicians, advising current staff not to lose morale if doing their job properly and suggesting current leadership clarify any progress made since Suttipong’s departure.
The dispute follows public backlash within the ministry, where current officials and official media channels defended their work and highlighted recent anti-corruption efforts. Anutin emphasized that civil servants should listen constructively to senior seniors’ feedback, maintain integrity, and ignore ungrounded criticism as the ministry continues its regular duties.
Meanwhile Interior Ministry Permanent Secretary Unsit Sampuntharat has strongly defended the ministry against recent criticism from Suttipong, asserting that current operations are fair, transparent, and superior to past eras. He highlighted swift actions taken to address local administrative irregularities and corruption within 7 days, emphasizing that leadership should support subordinates rather than publicly criticize them.
Unsit noted that many former permanent secretaries have reached out to praise the ministry’s prompt problem-solving. Reaffirming that current officials work tirelessly to serve the public, he expressed disappointment that grievances were aired publicly instead of being communicated internally, while stressing his commitment to protecting staff morale.
Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has petitioned for full amnesty and liability relief under the Promotion of a Peaceful Society Act, submitting his request via his lawyer on October 8. Covering four main Supreme Court cases—including the 46.37-billion-baht asset seizure—Thaksin argues that the post-2006 coup prosecutions were politically motivated, unlawful, and directly stemmed from political conflict.
Thaksin Shinawatra has formally submitted a petition for amnesty to clear his record across all political cases, with his lawyer, Winyat Chartmontri, filing the request on October 8, 2026. The petition was submitted to the Committee for Enhancing Social Harmony through the Public Service Center of the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister, invoking the Act on Enhancing Social Harmony, B.E. 2568.
Thaksin contends that because the court rulings lack explicit findings of corruption or misconduct, statutory exclusions do not apply, and his actions as prime minister constituted protected political expression. Citing his completed one-year reduced sentence via royal clemency in 2023, he seeks full restoration of his rights and legal expungement of his convictions.
The case will then proceed to a major board chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapan, with the entire review process bound by a 180-day legal framework.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated on October 13, 2026, at Government House that he was unaware of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s decision to have his lawyer submit a petition to the Social Harmony Building Committee on October 8. The petition requests amnesty and the clearing of a criminal record for politically motivated charges under the Social Harmony Building Act B.E. 2568. When asked whether anyone was entitled to submit such a request, Anutin offered no verbal response but nodded in acknowledgment.
Social Security Office’s Board Elections
Labour Minister – Julapun Amornvivat, has come out to defend the election results saying that the more than 1 million voters’ turnout was a good thing and it was nearly 500% more than the usual turnout for such elections.
Julapun said that as long as the ‘Executive Board’ of the political party are not involved, then it should be okay. Those from political parties and member of political parties are eligible to campaign for voters to come out.
This comes as SSO has come out to say that it was going to wait for ‘investigation’ into political interference at the recent SSO board member elections.
The Progressive Social Security team secured a decisive victory in the October 11 Social Security Board election, winning 14 of 21 elected seats across both employer and worker categories from over one million voters. The Social Security Office is currently verifying vote counts and candidate eligibility without a fixed statutory deadline for certification, noting it will individually examine any candidate political ties that may raise legal concerns.
Senator Tewarit Maneechai and a former Labour Ministry official clarified that current 2021 regulations do not mandate political neutrality or prohibit party involvement in campaigns, restricting only those holding specific political posts within three years.
Meanwhile, Senator Chinchote Saengsang urged authorities to respect the results unless clear legal violations are proven, warning that overturning the election arbitrarily would trigger severe turmoil.
Thailand’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a statement on October 13 condemning ageist comments and remarks that belittled voters following the Social Security Board election. The commission emphasized that political disagreements do not justify degrading individuals or undermining human dignity, warning that such rhetoric could incite hatred and harm democratic participation.
The statement addressed recent controversy where commentator Arnond Sakworawich called voters “low-quality” and labor leader Phanat Thailuan called MP Rukchanok Srinork “scum,” though the NHRC did not explicitly name them. Reminding the public that freedom of expression comes with responsibility, the commission urged academics, media leaders, and citizens to respect differing views and avoid demeaning language.
Amnesty International Thailand urged Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to withdraw a criminal defamation complaint against iLaw director Yingcheep Atchanont, warning it deters public scrutiny. The lawsuit stems from Yingcheep’s parliamentary remarks alleging Anutin and Bhumjaithai Party figures were linked to 2024 Senate selection irregularities.
Anutin denies the claims, asserting they damaged his reputation ahead of a December 14 preliminary hearing where Yingcheep faces up to two years in prison. Calling for the repeal of criminal defamation laws, Amnesty stressed that public-interest expression must be protected to safeguard democratic participation.
Deputy Interior Minister Phonphee Suwanchawee addressed a chemical leak at a Prachinburi factory, confirming coordination with Industry Minister Varawut Silpa-archa, who ordered an immediate investigation and closure of the facility. Authorities uncovered suspect Thai nominee arrangements involving two companies linked by identical Thai surnames, shared accounting services, and dramatic capital increases from 20 million to over 400 million baht combined, backed by foreign funding.
The Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) is tracing financial flows and land titles, with joint plans alongside the Ministry of Industry to safely relocate toxic waste. Although the implicated names belong to a prominent local family in Prachinburi, officials assured there will be no exemptions, expecting the nominee investigation and shareholding analysis to conclude within the week.
White foam and dark sludge were observed at the Pak Khlong Rangsit sluice gate in Pathum Thani province, accompanied by a foul odor as continuous drainage operations redirected water into the Chao Phraya River. Residents reported seeing large amounts of foam and rising water levels, which have affected riverside communities.
The Region 6 Environmental and Pollution Control Office inspected water samples and initially found no hazardous chemical contamination. Officials explained that the dark color and white foam resulted from oxygen depletion due to prolonged stagnant floodwaters, while authorities continue to monitor and evaluate the situation.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) announced the successful disbursement of flood relief payments for the 2026 rainy season, in accordance with the Cabinet’s resolution. A total of 1,284.866 million baht has been transferred to 160,350 households across 37 provinces. Specifically within Bangkok, relief funds totaling 553.618 million baht have been transferred to 75,738 households.
Most recently, on October 13, the DDPM submitted transfer data to the Government Savings Bank for 150,124 households—amounting to 1,155.592 million baht across 21 provinces—and the bank has begun crediting the funds to the victims’ accounts.
Flooding persists across 20 provinces and Bangkok, affecting 906,083 households and over 2.45 million people across 99 districts, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported on October 13. Although water levels are falling across all impacted regions, many communities remain submerged, prompting authorities to accelerate drainage, relief, and post-flood recovery efforts.
To speed up drainage into the sea, the Royal Irrigation Department has deployed water pushers along key routes in Samut Prakan and Chachoengsao, including the Phra Ong Chaiyanuchit Canal and the Bang Pakong River. These installations are crucial for expediting the flow of remaining floodwaters originating from upstream areas like Prachin Buri.
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast indicating heavy rainfall in parts of Thailand from October 13 to 16. This is primarily affecting western areas of the Northern, Central, and Eastern regions due to easterly winds bringing moisture over upper Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand, while a weak winds prevail over the lower Andaman Sea.
From October 17 to 19, rainfall in upper Thailand is expected to decrease, while the Southern region will continue to experience persistent rain and localized heavy downpours. This weather pattern is attributed to the weakening high-pressure system over the upper North and Northeast, alongside prevailing easterly winds across the country.
Officers from the Anti-Cyber Scam Centre (ACSC) and the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) raided 27 suspected scam locations across 11 provinces, arresting 39 suspects—including eight Chinese nationals and one from Myanmar—while seizing roughly 500 million baht in assets. Assistant police chief Pol Lt-Gen Jirabhop Bhuridej revealed that several Chinese suspects utilized Thailand Privilege visas for prolonged stays, prompting police to push for stricter applicant screening.
The syndicate allegedly lured victims via Facebook ads promoting fake stock and block trading courses, trapping them into transferring funds with blocked withdrawals. Investigators noted that some laundered funds were funneled to operations in Cambodia, while ongoing crackdowns have successfully reduced nationwide daily scam losses from around 100 million baht to approximately 30 million baht.

JSCCIB Raises 2026 Growth and Export Forecasts
Grand Asset Hotels and Property Public Company Limited (GRAND)
