Two Nigerians were arrested in a dramatic Pattaya condominium raid after police uncovered six grammes of cocaine hidden inside a kitchen extractor hood. Officers found five packets wrapped in black tape after a 20-minute search. One suspect was staying illegally, while the other held a tourist visa. However, both claimed the cocaine came from an unpaid supplier near Walking Street and was strictly for personal use. Drug tests produced conflicting results. Now, under a nationwide police crackdown, investigators are tracing the supplier and probing possible wider drug connections. Both men face legal proceedings, although no trafficking network has yet been established.

Two Nigerian nationals were arrested in Pattaya on Friday, October 9, after immigration police raided a downtown condominium. Officers uncovered approximately six grammes of cocaine hidden inside a kitchen extractor hood.

The drugs were packed into five small bags, wrapped in black tape and concealed above the cooker. One suspect was staying in Thailand illegally, while the other had entered on a tourist visa.

Both men claimed they obtained the cocaine from an acquaintance near Pattaya’s Walking Street without paying for it. However, police are now hunting for the source and investigating possible links to a wider drug supply network.

Two Nigerians arrested in Pattaya condominium raid as immigration police launch wider crime crackdown

The suspects were identified as Chikemezu Wisdom Enna, 25, and Chidi Alex Oganu, 29. Both were arrested during the Friday afternoon operation by Chonburi Immigration Police. The raid followed intelligence concerning Nigerian nationals living at a well-known condominium in central Pattaya.

In particular, officers suspected one occupant was staying illegally and might be involved in narcotics offences. Consequently, an immigration team was ordered to investigate the property and its occupants.

The operation followed a nationwide crackdown ordered by National Police Chief Police General Samran Nuanma. Earlier, he had instructed police units to intensify action against narcotics trafficking and crime in tourist destinations.

His orders also covered foreign nominee businesses, scam gangs and corruption. In addition, officers were directed to concentrate on public service duties while strengthening enforcement against criminal activity.

The Immigration Bureau subsequently moved to implement those instructions through its regional commands. Police Lieutenant General Nophasil Phoolsawat, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, directed the broader response.

Chonburi immigration officers move on Pattaya condominium after intelligence points to drug offences

Meanwhile, Police Major General Songprot Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Division 3, supervised implementation within his jurisdiction. In Chonburi, the operation was organised by the provincial immigration unit following information about the condominium occupants.

Police Colonel Naphasphong Khositsuriyamanee, Superintendent of Chonburi Immigration Police, ordered the inspection. He assigned Police Lieutenant Colonel Kawinwat Arayasuriwong, Deputy Superintendent of Chonburi Immigration Police, to lead the team.

Additionally, Police Lieutenant Colonel Kittipat Hongchuvech, an immigration inspector, joined the operation. Police Lieutenant Jittiya Pipitkul, a deputy inspector, also participated in the search.

Officers moved into the condominium on Friday afternoon, October 9. The property was described as a well-known residential development in downtown Pattaya. At that point, investigators were acting on information concerning a Nigerian occupant suspected of immigration and drug offences.

The intelligence suggested one resident might be staying without legal permission. Furthermore, officers had received information raising suspicions about possible involvement in narcotics.

Police uncover five cocaine packets hidden inside kitchen extractor hood after long 20-minute search

Upon entering the unit, police located Enna and Oganu. Immigration checks quickly established that Enna was staying in Thailand illegally. By contrast, Oganu had entered the country using a tourist visa.

The report did not specify when Enna entered Thailand or when his permission to remain expired. Nor did it identify an immigration violation involving Oganu. Nevertheless, officers pressed ahead with a search for narcotics.

For more than 20 minutes, the immigration team searched the accommodation. Eventually, officers discovered five small zip-lock bags hidden inside the kitchen extractor hood. Each contained cocaine and had been wrapped in black adhesive tape.

Together, the packages weighed approximately six grammes. The drugs were concealed inside the ventilation appliance above the cooking area, rather than being left in plain sight.

Officers immediately removed the packets and seized the cocaine as evidence. The discovery transformed the immigration inspection into a narcotics investigation. Police had uncovered drugs concealed inside a condominium occupied by two Nigerian nationals. Notably, the packets were hidden inside the kitchen appliance, beyond ordinary view. The search had already continued for more than 20 minutes before officers located them.

Drug tests split suspects as both identify unpaid cocaine supplier near Pattaya’s Walking Street

Following the discovery, investigators questioned both occupants about the cocaine. Police also conducted preliminary urine tests to establish whether either man had consumed narcotics.

The results differed sharply. Enna tested positive for drugs, while Oganu returned a negative result. Despite that difference, both men remained under investigation following the discovery of cocaine inside their accommodation.

During questioning, the suspects reportedly identified an acquaintance near Pattaya’s Walking Street as their supplier. Both claimed they had obtained the cocaine from this individual without making immediate payment.

According to their account, the money remained outstanding. They also insisted the cocaine was intended exclusively for personal consumption. Specifically, both denied obtaining the five packets for resale or distribution to other people.

However, investigators have not established whether that explanation is accurate. Police are examining the reported source and possible connections to other individuals. The suspects’ statements have directed attention towards Walking Street, one of Pattaya’s principal nightlife districts. Nevertheless, the available information does not establish that the drugs were purchased inside any particular business or premises.

Police trace reported Walking Street supplier but find no confirmed evidence of wider drug network

The identity of the reported supplier has not been disclosed. Likewise, police have not announced an arrest involving the acquaintance identified during questioning.

Investigators are continuing enquiries to establish where the cocaine originated and how it reached the condominium. They are also examining whether the reported supplier has connections with other people involved in narcotics activity around Pattaya.

Crucially, police have not established that the two Nigerians operated a drug distribution network. The original report described their arrests in connection with suspected drug trafficking.

However, the evidence publicly detailed concerns possession of approximately six grammes of cocaine. No additional narcotics were reported during the search. Similarly, police did not identify customer records, completed drug sales or other evidence establishing distribution by the suspects.

The five concealed packets remain the principal physical evidence described in the report. Meanwhile, the suspects’ account of personal consumption and an unpaid supplier remains unverified. Investigators must establish whether those statements accurately describe the circumstances surrounding the cocaine.

They must also determine whether the reported acquaintance supplied narcotics to other individuals. For now, the wider investigation centres on the source identified during questioning.

One Nigerian found staying illegally as both suspects are transferred to Pattaya City Police Station

Separately, immigration checks established a clear distinction between the two men’s legal status in Thailand. Enna, aged 25, was found to be staying in the kingdom illegally. However, the report did not clarify whether he had overstayed previous permission or entered Thailand unlawfully.

Oganu, aged 29, had entered Thailand on a tourist visa. The police account did not state that his visa had expired or that he had violated immigration conditions.

Nevertheless, both men were arrested after officers recovered cocaine from their accommodation. The original report did not provide a detailed breakdown of the criminal charges registered against each suspect. Nor did it identify any separate formal charge arising from Enna’s positive urine test. Following the arrests, immigration officers transferred both Nigerians to Pattaya City Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The cocaine recovered from the extractor hood was retained as evidence. In parallel, investigators continued examining the circumstances surrounding its acquisition. The suspects’ statements concerning Walking Street provided a possible lead towards the source of supply. However, the police account did not disclose the nationality of the acquaintance or the circumstances of the reported transaction. Neither did it identify any wider group connected to the seized drugs.

Pattaya raid follows national enforcement orders and opens three separate lines of police enquiry

The operation was reported on Saturday morning, October 10, following the arrests the previous afternoon. The original account identified the raid as part of the Immigration Bureau’s response to the national police chief’s enforcement instructions.

Those instructions called for stronger action against narcotics and criminal activity, particularly in tourist destinations. Accordingly, the Chonburi operation combined immigration checks with an investigation into suspected drug offences.

The initial intelligence concerned the legal status and possible activities of Nigerian occupants at a Pattaya condominium. However, the search produced a separate finding when officers discovered cocaine hidden inside the kitchen extractor hood. That discovery then led investigators towards a reported supplier near Walking Street. In addition, preliminary drug tests produced a positive result for one suspect and a negative result for the other.

The operation therefore generated three distinct lines of enquiry involving immigration status, possession of cocaine and its reported source. The immigration investigation established that Enna was staying illegally, while Oganu’s entry on a tourist visa was confirmed.

Meanwhile, the narcotics search recovered five packets weighing approximately six grammes. Finally, questioning produced the claim that an acquaintance near Walking Street had supplied the cocaine without immediate payment.

Investigation turns to cocaine source as police seek further suspects following condominium arrests

Police are now examining that account as part of the continuing investigation. However, no further suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the reported supply.

The police report did not disclose whether investigators had located the acquaintance or established the circumstances of the transaction. Nor did it identify a wider drug distribution group connected to the condominium.

The case has since moved beyond the original immigration intelligence that prompted the raid. Officers initially went to the condominium following suspicions about an occupant’s immigration status and possible involvement with drugs. Instead, the search also uncovered cocaine concealed inside a kitchen appliance. Both Nigerian residents were arrested, and subsequent questioning produced information about a possible supplier near Walking Street.

The investigation now focuses on establishing the source of the cocaine and identifying any other individuals involved. At the same time, Enna’s illegal immigration status remains a separate aspect of the case. Both suspects were transferred to Pattaya City Police Station following their arrest. However, the available report did not disclose any subsequent court appearance or bail decision.

No further arrests announced as cocaine packets and suspects’ accounts remain central to the case

The Immigration Bureau has not announced additional arrests arising from the October 9 operation. Furthermore, investigators have not publicly confirmed locating the acquaintance identified by the suspects.

The five seized packets remain the central physical evidence described in the police report. The suspects’ statements about personal use and an unpaid supplier remain under examination.

For now, the confirmed results are two arrests, approximately six grammes of seized cocaine and an immigration violation involving Enna. Police also recorded a positive narcotics test for Enna and a negative result for Oganu.

Meanwhile, both suspects maintain that the cocaine was intended for personal use and had not yet been paid for. Their reported Walking Street supply connection remains under investigation. No wider narcotics network has yet been established.
