Seven UiTM students remain under treatment after heat‑related incident; outdoor endurance events called off

Seven UiTM students are being medically monitored after suffering heat-related issues during an endurance event in Pahang.

UiTM has cancelled all outdoor activities for the KKEC 2026 and is assessing safety protocols while cooperating with authorities.

A 21-year-old participant, Fadhlan Fakhry Solana, died after collapsing at the event, prompting the university to offer full support to affected families.

SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — Seven Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) students are still receiving treatment and undergoing medical monitoring following a heat-related incident while taking part in an endurance event in Pahang on Friday.

In a statement today, UiTM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin said the university management was paying particular attention to the health and welfare of all the affected students, who are being treated at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HOSHAS) in Temerloh and Jengka Hospital.

“Based on the latest information from HOSHAS, Liya Zafirah Muhammad from the Perak branch remains under treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU), while Meor Aqil Wildan from the Perlis branch is also under close monitoring at the same hospital.

“The five other students at Jengka Hospital are Nur Nabihah Musyidah Md Nasri (Johor branch, Segamat Campus), Nur Alia Farhana Abdul Fattah (Pahang branch, Jengka Campus), Muhamad Adam Azfar Suzaini and Muhammad Anas Shahrul Nizat from the Johor branch, as well as Izzharith Zafran Muhammad Zulkarnain from the Pahang branch,” he said.

He said UiTM would continue to maintain close communication with the hospitals and the families involved to provide the latest updates on their health.

Following the incident, Shahrin said the university administration had decided to cancel all Komander Kesatria Endurance Challenge (KKEC) 2026 competitions involving outdoor activities that were scheduled to take place today.

He said the university was also giving its full cooperation to the authorities to assist with any investigation into the incident, while conducting a comprehensive assessment of safety procedures, health screening, risk management and emergency response measures for the programme.

“All forms of support, including logistics, transportation and management assistance, have also been fully mobilised to ease the burden on the victims’ families,” he said.

Shahrin said the university management had instructed UiTM deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs) Prof Mohd Sazili Shahibi to be on the ground to directly monitor the welfare of the affected students.

He said the university’s top management, together with UiTM Pahang branch Rector Prof Dr Azhan Hashim @ Ismail, had also paid their last respects to the student who died in the incident.

Shahrin urged the public to respect the privacy of the students’ families and refrain from spreading unverified information.

A 21-year-old KKEC 2026 participant from UiTM Negeri Sembilan, Seremban Campus, Fadhlan Fakhry Solana Mohd Fellimal, was reported to have collapsed while taking part in the event on Sept 4.

He was subsequently treated in the ICU at HOSHAS and was pronounced dead at about 2 pm yesterday.

UiTM副校长Datuk Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin教授今天发表声明称，大学管理层特别关注所有受影响学生的健康和福祉，这些学生正在淡马鲁的苏丹哈吉艾哈迈德沙阿医院（HOSHAS）和珍卡医院接受治疗。

“根据 HOSHAS 的最新信息，霹雳州分部的 Liya Zafirah Muhammad 仍在重症监护室 (ICU) 接受治疗，而玻璃市州分部的 Meor Aqil Wildan 也在同一家医院接受密切观察。

“Jengka医院的其他五名学生是来自柔佛分院的Nur Nabihah Musyidah Md Nasri（柔佛分院，昔加末校区）、Nur Alia Farhana Abdul Fattah（彭亨分院，Jengka校区）、来自柔佛分院的Muhamad Adam Azfar Suzaini和Muhammad Anas Shahrul Nizat，以及来自彭亨分院的Izzharith Zafran Muhammad Zulkarnain。”

他表示，马来西亚理工大学将继续与相关医院和家属保持密切沟通，提供他们的最新健康状况。

事件发生后，沙林表示，大学管理部门已决定取消所有原定于今天举行的 Komander Kesatria Endurance Challenge (KKEC) 2026 户外活动比赛。

他表示，学校也在全力配合有关部门对该事件的调查，同时对该项目的安全程序、健康筛查、风险管理和应急响应措施进行全面评估。

他说：“包括后勤、运输和管理援助在内的所有形式的支持也已全面调动，以减轻受害者家属的负担。”

沙林表示，大学管理层已指示马来西亚工艺大学副校长（学生事务）莫哈末·萨兹利·沙希比教授亲临现场，直接监督受影响学生的福利状况。

他说，该大学的高层管理人员以及马来西亚工艺大学彭亨分校校长阿兹汉·哈希姆教授（@Ismail）也向在事故中丧生的学生致以了最后的敬意。

沙林呼吁公众尊重学生家属的隐私，不要传播未经证实的信息。

随后他在HOSHAS医院的重症监护室接受治疗，并于昨天下午2点左右被宣布死亡。
