MACC arrests ex‑DG with ‘Datuk’ title and another suspect over alleged land‑sale corruption

The suspects, in their 50s and 60s, were detained in Putrajaya over abuse of power related to land sales.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested two individuals, including a former director-general of a statutory body with the title ‘Datuk’, over alleged misappropriation, abuse of power, and corruption.

The suspects, aged in their 50s and 60s, were detained around 4 pm today after arriving to provide their statements at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

A source said the suspects are believed to have abused their power in appointing a company for a project and in the sale of land owned by the statutory body.

“Both individuals are suspected of involvement in the sale of land owned by the statutory body to a company linked to the developer without the knowledge of the Board of Directors and its subsidiary,” the source said.

Both suspects will be taken to the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for a remand application.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman, when contacted, confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009. — Bernama

这些嫌疑人年龄在 50 多岁到 60 多岁之间，今天下午 4 点左右抵达布城反贪污委员会总部录口供后被拘留。

消息人士称，嫌疑人被认为滥用职权，在指定公司承建项目和出售法定机构拥有的土地时存在不当行为。

消息人士称：“两人涉嫌在董事会及其子公司不知情的情况下，将法定机构拥有的土地出售给与开发商有关联的公司。”

两名嫌疑人将于明日被带到布城地方法庭申请还押候审。
