A 69-year-old male pedestrian died after an accident in Geylang that led to the arrest of a 46-year-old male car driver for driving without due care and attention causing death.

The incident happened at about 5pm on Friday (Oct 16) at the junction of Geylang Road and Lorong 32 Geylang.

A video posted by Shin Min Daily News shows a white car with significant damages to its front bumper, and a pair of slippers is seen on the road where the pedestrian earlier lay sprawled after he was hit.

Paramedics are later seen attending to the man who left a trail of blood on the road.

In response to media queries, the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force said the pedestrian was unconscious when he was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he later died.

Police investigations are ongoing.

This is the second such incident on Friday.

AsiaOne had reported that a 77-year-old female pedestrian died following a hit-and-run accident on the PIE towards Changi Airport.

The minibus driver, who left the scene before police officers' arrival, was later arrested for driving without due care and attention causing death.
