In response to online speculations, influencer and presenter Nani Roslan, also known as Nani Roc, has denied involvement in a khalwat raid involving former minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

She clarified her position via Instagram, refuting claims about her presence during the incident and expressing concerns over derogatory remarks about her.

Nik Nazmi acknowledged his detention by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) and has apologized publicly, leading to his suspension from Bersama for three months.

Both PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and the Selangor Islamic Religious Council dismissed rumors of any deliberate entrapment or frame-up orchestrated against Nik Nazmi.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — Presenter and influencer Nani Roslan has denied being the woman detained alongside former minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad in a Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) raid last Thursday for alleged khalwat.

She posted a denial in an Instagram Story last night after her name, photos and videos were pulled into online speculation about the case.

“I am not that woman. I never expected to have to come forward to explain this,” she said.

Nani, whose full name is Nur Syazwani Roslan and who is better known as Nani Roc, is a freelance emcee and voice-over artiste who started out as a broadcast journalist and news reader in 2010.

Born in Johor and raised in Shah Alam, she runs her own talent company, NaniRoc Talents Enterprise, and co-hosts the Kata Kita podcast with actress Diana Danielle.

She also co-hosted the Lebih Masa podcast with Nik Nazmi, an arrangement she said ended on September 30.

Nani said she spoke up only because the speculation had escalated into lewd and degrading remarks about her as a woman.

She also rejected claims that she was involved in any plan linked to the incident, calling them completely untrue.

She said her work as a professional presenter had put her in front of people from all backgrounds, and that some parties had blocked her or dropped her at the last minute, even before this controversy, because they associated her jobs with certain political parties.

“Doing my job does not mean I am promoting any particular party’s political views,” she said.

She added that social media users are free to be curious, but they must stay respectful.

“Freedom of speech is not a licence to defame others, which can have legal consequences,” she said.

Nik Nazmi, a co-founder of Bersama, confirmed yesterday that he was one of two people detained by Jais in Petaling Jaya on October 15, saying he was with a woman who is not his muhrim (a close relative he is forbidden to marry under Islamic law), during the raid.

He apologised to his wife, family and party members.

Bersama has since suspended him from all official party activities for three months, from October 20 to January 19, 2027.

PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also Selangor menteri besar, has denied claims that PKR plotted a khalwat t rap against Nik Nazmi, a party member for almost 21 years until he left in May.

The Selangor Islamic Religious Council has likewise rejected suggestions that the detention was a Jais “frame-up”, saying no one is above the law.
