Changi Airport handled 17.4 million passengers in the third quarter of 2026, a 0.4 per cent increase from the same period last year.

Compared to the last quarter, passenger movements rose by 200,000, from 17.2 million.

Europe, Northeast Asia and Southwest Pacific regions remain key drivers of passenger traffic growth during the quarter, Changi Airport Group said on Monday (Oct 19).

Of these, the top five markets were China, Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia and India.

It added that among the top 10 markets, Vietnam recorded the strong year-on-year growth at 20.5 per cent, while China grew by 10.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Denpasar in Bali, Bangkok and Shanghai were the five busiest routes in the reported quarter.

The strongest growth of 5.2 per cent and 5.1 per cent were posted by the Tokyo and Melbourne routes, which are also among the top 10 busiest routes.

Aircraft movements, which include take-offs and landings, totalled 93,900 — an increase of 2.5 per cent from the same quarter in 2025.

This is also an increase from the 92,400 reported in the last quarter.

During this period, Changi Airport handled 574,000 tonnes of airfreight, an increase of 8 per cent year-on-year.

This was driven by healthy demand, particularly for artificial intelligence-related semiconductor and electronics shipment , the group said, adding that China, the US, Australia, Hong Kong and India were the airport's largest cargo markets during the quarter.

Lim Ching Kiat, CAG's executive vice-president for air hub and cargo development, noted that demand for air travel had remained resilient in the third quarter.

"While airlines continue to navigate elevated fuel costs and other operational pressures, we remain focused on working with our partners to strengthen connectivity, grow promising routes and pursue new opportunities that enhance Changi’s position as a leading global air hub.”
