JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 20 — Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, has urged the government, private sector and local communities to take proactive, collective action to address the physical and psychological effects of haze on students and families.

Her Majesty stressed the urgent need for a coordinated response, emphasising long-term strategies rather than temporary measures introduced only during haze emergencies.

“Collective action, particularly from the government and private sector, is needed to plan proactive measures to address the physical and psychological effects of haze on students and families.

“Close cooperation from local communities is also essential to strengthen the effectiveness of home-based teaching and learning (PdPR).

“Relevant parties must also develop long-term strategic plans rather than relying solely on temporary solutions when haze emergencies occur,” Her Majesty said.

The royal message was shared in a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s official Facebook page.

The Queen delivered the message in connection with an audience involving the Johor government, parents and educators on haze-related issues and schooling at the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) Tower, yesterday.

The session reflected Her Majesty’s concern for the well-being and education of the younger generation.

Her Highness Che’ Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor was also present.

In the same message, the Queen also expressed her appreciation to Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah and Jeffrey Cheah Foundation for contributing face masks for schoolchildren in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Her Majesty also commended Tan Sri Patrick Yeoh and YTL Communications for providing SIM cards to support students’ access to digital learning, and thanked other partners who had contributed to the welfare of schoolchildren.

The audience was also attended by State Secretary Datuk Mohammed Ridha Abd Kadir and State Education and Information Committee chairman Dr Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali.

Representatives from state and federal departments, teachers, parents, Bangsa Johor Bahagia (BJB) residents and People’s Housing Programme (PPR) communities were also present. — Bernama
