Man crashes car outside police base near Geylang, arrested for allegedly driving under drug influence

A 33-year-old man was arrested for suspected drug-related offences and driving under the influence of drugs, after the car he was driving skidded and crashed into a lamp post outside a police base near Geylang.

The incident happened at about 3.15pm on Tuesday (Oct 20), on Guillemard Road towards Nicoll Highway, near the Police Logistics Base and Found and Unclaimed Property Office .

Photographs seen by AsiaOne show a white car being placed on tow. It is seen with significant damage to its front bumper and bonnet.

Meanwhile, a lamp post along Guillemard Road is tilted to a 10- to 20-deg angle, and had to be secured to a strong point using a lashing strap.

Debris, including the car's front bumper, is seen next to the lamp post's base.

The police said in a statement to AsiaOne that the car is believed to have skidded, adding that a vaporiser, a pod, substances believed to be controlled drugs, and drug paraphernalia were found in the car.

The vaporiser-related offences has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority and the suspected drug-related offences were referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau.

Investigations by all three agencies are ongoing.

与此同时，吉列马德路旁的一根路灯杆倾斜了 10 到 20 度，不得不使用捆绑带将其固定在牢固的地方。

路灯杆底座旁散落着碎片，其中包括汽车的前保险杠。

警方在给AsiaOne的一份声明中表示，据信这辆车发生了侧滑，并补充说，在车内发现了电子烟、烟弹、疑似管制药物的物质和吸毒用具。

与电子烟相关的罪行已移交卫生科学局处理，而涉嫌与毒品相关的罪行已移交中央肃毒局处理。

三个机构的调查仍在进行中。
