In the Dewan Rakyat session, key issues include GovTech Malaysia's advancements in digital transformation, the status of Malaysians affected by Nepal's flash floods, and the accuracy of Malaysia's Air Pollutant Index.

Questions will also address initiatives for diesel allocations in Sabah, border trade law enforcement, and women's economic participation.

Additionally, a policy-level debate on the 2027 Supply Bill is ongoing, as presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and will continue through December 8.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 — The achievements of GovTech Malaysia, the status of Malaysians who remain unreachable following flash floods in Nepal, and the accuracy of Malaysia’s official Air Pollutant Index (API) readings are among the key issues expected to be raised in the Dewan Rakyat today.

According to the Order Paper on the Parliament’s official portal, during the Ministers’ Question Time (MQT), Young Syefura Othman (PH-Bentong) will ask the Digital Minister to outline GovTech Malaysia’s achievements in advancing the country’s digital transformation agenda.

She will also seek details on the success of strategic collaborations with other ministries in improving service delivery to the public and business sector, as well as the agency’s plans to strengthen the digital government ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (PN-Langkawi) will ask the Foreign Minister for an update on Malaysians who remain unreachable following flash floods that struck Nepal’s Rasuwa district on Aug 26.

Manndzri Nasib (BN-Tenggara) will ask the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister to explain the measures taken to ensure that official API readings remain accurate, transparent and trusted by the public.

He will also seek clarification on whether the government plans to improve the dissemination of air quality information to make it easier for the public to understand and more responsive to changing haze conditions.

Meanwhile, during the oral question session, Datuk Siti Aminah Aching (BN-Beaufort) will ask the Minister of Finance the number of pickup truck and jeep owners in Sabah who have received the additional 100-litre allocation under the BUDI Diesel initiative.

She will also seek details on assistance for owners who use the vehicles for small businesses, agricultural activities or travel to rural areas.

Datuk Seri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali (BN-Pekan) will ask the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister for details of the enforcement outcomes under Ops Tiris Bersepadu, particularly in border areas, including the number of cases, value of leakages, seizures and arrests.

He will also seek an explanation on weaknesses in enforcement that have allowed repeated smuggling incidents, as well as measures to close loopholes, strengthen border controls and dismantle smuggling syndicates.

Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) will ask the Women, Family and Community Development Minister to state the number of women aged between 25 and 59 who are outside the labour force due to caregiving responsibilities, including caring for children, older persons and other family members.

She will also seek clarification on the economic value of unpaid care work to the country and when a national care economy ecosystem will be established.

The Dewan Rakyat sitting will subsequently continue with the policy-level debate on the Supply Bill 2027, following its tabling by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, on Oct 9.

According to the calendar for the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, the policy-level debate on the 2027 Budget is scheduled from Oct 12 to 22, followed by a four-day winding-up session by the relevant ministers beginning on Oct 26.

The Dewan Rakyat sitting is scheduled to run for 37 days, until Dec 8. — Bernama
