An international school in Kuching confirmed a student accused of injuring a teacher is no longer attending, as police continue their investigation.

The teacher injured was hospitalised but is recovering, while the school activated emergency protocols and safely evacuated students.

Enhanced security measures, including auxiliary police, are now in place, and the school advises avoiding speculation to protect the investigation.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 — An international school in Kuching has confirmed that the student accused of injuring a teacher is no longer an active student.

According to the New Straits Times , the student remains in police custody as authorities conduct further investigations.

The school issued a statement yesterday confirming it is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities.

The injured teacher was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and is currently recovering without critical injuries.

“The school deeply appreciates our teacher’s courage and composure during the incident and wishes them a smooth recovery,” the statement read.

Following the incident this morning, the school immediately activated its emergency response protocols, alerting both the police and ambulance services.

Staff safely evacuated students from the affected classroom, and no other injuries were reported.

Classes were dismissed early on police advice as a precaution, and parents were notified to collect their children.

The school confirmed it will reopen today, provided it receives clearance from the relevant authorities.

“Effective immediately, three auxiliary police personnel will be stationed on the school grounds, and appropriate security checks will be conducted at entry points,” it said.

The school is also reviewing long-term security measures for the campus.

Senior leadership will hold a student assembly to explain the incident, reassure students, and provide counselling support.

The school urged the public to avoid speculation and refrain from spreading unverified information that could interfere with the investigation.

“We also ask that the privacy of those involved be respected while the relevant authorities carry out their duties,” the statement said.

Media reports indicated that a 16-year-old male student had recorded a video before the teacher attempted to wrest a sharp object from him.

A video purportedly recorded by the student has circulated on social media, though the contents and purpose of the recording remain under investigation.
