Key figures, including MCMC and Communications Ministry leaders, reinforced the agency's dedication to ethical practices and efficient fund management.

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 22 — Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) staff have been urged to uphold integrity and good governance to preserve public trust in the country’s communications institution.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said MCMC staff should have the courage to report any abuse of power or unlawful instructions through official channels.

“Have the courage to stand up for what is right and report any misconduct. Wrongdoing must never be covered up,” he said in his address at the MCMC 2026 Integrity and Audit Month closing ceremony, details of which were shared on the MACC’s Facebook page today.

Abd Halim said MCMC’s integrity programmes showed that both its senior management and staff were committed to strengthening accountability.

He said integrity went beyond compliance with written rules and audit requirements, stemming instead from personal values and principles, especially when honesty and trustworthiness were tested.

“Everyone must uphold the trust placed in them, regardless of their rank or position, and authority must not be treated as a privilege.

“Every decision involving licensing, enforcement, procurement, human resource management and industrial relations must be made transparently,” he said.

The MCMC 2026 Integrity and Audit Month closing ceremony, themed “Empowering Integrity, Strengthening Governance”, was held at the MCMC Auditorium in Cyberjaya today.

Also present were Communications Ministry secretary-general and MCMC Audit and Risk Committee member Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah; MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din; and MCMC commissioner and Audit and Risk Committee chairman Prof Dr Mohamad Salmi Mohd Sohod.

Others in attendance included MCMC commissioner General (Rtd) Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, MCMC managing director Abdul Karim Fakir Ali and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy senior director Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Salmi said MCMC remained committed to curbing corruption and ensuring that accountable governance systems were consistently implemented.

“MCMC strives to ensure that the benefits of every fund it manages are returned to the people in a transparent and orderly manner,” he said. — Bernama
