A 56-year-old man, Woo Hong Jiang, was sentenced to five days in prison and fined RM10,000 by the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court for dangerous driving of a Porsche Cayenne near Bandar Kinrara.

In addition to the fine and jail term, Magistrate Nur Natasya Mohtaruddin disqualified Woo's driving license for five years, with a potential six-month imprisonment if the fine is unpaid.

The prosecution highlighted the severity of Woo's actions, captured on viral dashcam footage, and emphasized the need for a deterrent to prevent similar offenses, underlining the gravity of road safety violations as per the Road Transport Act 1987.

PETALING JAYA, Oct 22 — A Porsche Cayenne driver was sentenced to five days in prison and fined RM10,000 by the Magistrate’s Court here today after pleading guilty to dangerous driving of the luxury car on a highway near Bandar Kinrara, which had gone viral on social media.

Magistrate Nur Natasya Mohtaruddin, who handed down the sentence against Woo Hong Jiang, 56, ordered the man to serve his prison term starting today, alongside a five-year disqualification of his driving license and six months’ imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.

The man, who was unrepresented by a lawyer, was charged with driving the vehicle in a manner dangerous to himself and other road users along the Puchong Bypass heading towards Bukit Jalil, Serdang, at 2:14 pm on October 18.

The charge was brought under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), which provides for a maximum imprisonment of five years and a fine ranging from RM5,000 to RM15,000.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Adriana Maisarah Mohd Farid requested a heavy sentence, taking into account that dashboard camera (dashcam) footage showed the accused was a road bully who drove dangerously and whose actions could have caused an accident, noting also that the case had gone viral.

“The accused deserves a high fine and a prison term exceeding the minimum period to serve as a lesson to him and the public not to repeat the same offence,” she said. — Bernama
